About the job

Skovbrynet is Aarhus Municipality's special day care for children with significant and permanent physical and/or mental functional impairment. Skovbrynet has capacity for 92 children distributed over five departments:

Department Skovbo, Department Skovhøj, Department Nygårdsvej, Department Troldhøj and Department Stenhøj.

In Department Stenhøj there is room for 17 children aged 0-6 with physical and/or mental functional impairment.

Department Stenhøj opened November 2023, where 8 pedagogues and 12 children began. In May 2024 we expanded with yet another group of 6 children and 5 staff. We have come a long way since then and have created a house where it is pleasant to be both as child and adult.

We work to ensure that the children have a good childhood life, where they thrive, develop and learn.

This includes individually planned special pedagogical interventions in a sheltered environment – and at the same time a persistent effort to create child communities where all children have the opportunity to participate and succeed. We work with predictability through visualization and structure. We start from the community and adapt activities, routines and physical surroundings so that more children can participate.

Some of the children in Department Stenhøj receive therapy, in the form of physiotherapy, occupational therapy or music therapy, provided by Børneterapien.

We are seeking a pedagogue with engagement and knowledge about the target group in Department Stenhøj and knowledge of the described efforts. A pedagogue who wants to be a co-creator of an department characterized by high professional quality, focus on children's development and a good atmosphere.

We are a department with three groups of children with up to 6 children in each group, connected to 3-4 pedagogues per group and one pedagogue student for one of the groups. You are part of a team, but collaborate across the house's groups, work interdisciplinary with therapists and other professional consultants.

As a pedagogue you have co-responsibility for the pedagogical efforts and development as well as the working environment.

Working hours are arranged in the time frame 06:30-17:00, and there are open and closing shifts, as well as monthly evening meetings.

Your profile should include some of the following professional knowledge and personal qualities:

Professional knowledge

• You are a trained pedagogue. Preferably with knowledge about the target group and with experience from the special pedagogical area, but this is not a prerequisite.
• You can contribute with special pedagogical tools and strategies based on knowledge and experience.
• You can maintain pedagogical focus, prioritize and choose.
• You can plan, organize and create an overview.
• You can perform a special pedagogical intervention that is adapted to the individual child's development possibilities.
• You can plan activities and routines so that all children have the opportunity to participate – even when the children have very different prerequisites.
• You have the prerequisite to engage in cooperation with the children's parents.
• You can use and master IT in pedagogical and work-related contexts.
• You are clear in your communication, both verbally and in writing.

Salary and terms of employment

We hire according to Aarhus Municipality's principles, therefore this is a 37-hour position.

Salary and terms of employment are according to the current collective agreement between BUPL and Aarhus Municipality.

Start date is January 1, 2027
