About the job

Are you a specialist in geriatrics—and would you like to help develop the future cohesive patient pathways? Then maybe you are the one we are looking for. Geriatric Medicine is seeking a specialist with commitment and willingness to actively contribute to the development of good, cohesive patient pathways across hospital, municipality and general practice. The position can be taken up from January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

Geriatric Medicine has an inpatient area with 32 beds spread over 2 wards and the Clinic for Geriatric Medicine with outpatient function including counseling and, in special cases, outreach function, fall clinic and advanced acute geriatric cross-disciplinary function. In addition, Geriatric Medicine is part of the joint dementia unit at AUH as well as medical coverage of the Health and Care Places in Aarhus Municipality.

The department collaborates closely with a number of clinical departments, general practice and the municipality as well as the prehospital sector. All in order to contribute to a coordinated effort for good cohesive patient pathways.

Geriatric Medicine has an engaged, competent staff and an active research environment.

Education is also an important part of our daily life. We educate medical students, junior doctors in training posts and other professional groups—and we expect you to be willing to contribute to this.

You will as a specialist join a presence-based duty from 08:00-21:00 on weekdays and 08:00-16:00 on holidays and weekends. Duty frequency is currently 9-shift. Change is expected in 2027. The position may involve clinical work in the Clinic for Geriatric Medicine, the advanced geriatric team in the Emergency Department, as well as inpatient wards in close collaboration with other specialists. The specialist should expect a role in advising and mentoring general practice, the municipality and other specialties.
