About the job

PPR Bornholm seeks a speech and hearing consultant – start January 1, 2027

Do you dream of working closely with children and young people – and at the same time experience Bornholm up close? Then it might be you we are looking for!

If you are not already a Bornholm resident, now is the time to pack the moving boxes. It’s wonderful here year-round – even in winter – and we would very much like to welcome you to both the island and our professional community.

At PPR Bornholm we are focused on creating positive changes for children and young people in their development environments and communities. With one more colleague on the team, we will be even better equipped to strengthen the preventive work and increase our presence close to children – in early childhood education and at schools.

About us

PPR and Health Bornholm is a multidisciplinary community consisting of 11 psychologists, 6 speech and hearing consultants and 5 pedagogical consultants. We are a smaller department under the Center for Children and Learning, where proximity, collaboration and professional development are an important part of our daily life.

We work consultatively, exploratively and evaluatively in close collaboration with day care institutions, schools and families. We are present at the municipality’s 12 schools, 2 special schools, around 30 day care facilities and in the child mindergarden.

Our common task is to support children’s well-being, development, learning and participation. We have a particular focus on developing inclusive learning environments and strengthening adults’ ability to act around the child.

With us there is room for professional depth, sparring and laughter in everyday life – and for thinking creatively when the task calls for something other than the standard solution.

In the vacant position you will have tasks both in the school and the early childhood area.

Your tasks as a speech and hearing consultant

As a speech and hearing consultant you will become an important partner for children, parents and the professionals around the child. You will work both with concrete children and with the development of the linguistic and communicative learning environments around the children.

Your tasks will among other things be to

  • Advise and guide pedagogical staff, teachers and parents on children’s speech, language and communication development and translate your professional knowledge into concrete actions in everyday life.
  • Assess and evaluate children with speech, language and communication difficulties, including planning relevant assessments and communicating results and recommendations in a way that makes sense for the child and the adults around them.
  • Develop concrete and applicable action and intervention plans together with parents and professionals and follow up on whether the interventions make a difference.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive language environments in early childhood education and schools – both through concrete actions around children and through guidance of the adults around them.
  • Observe and analyze children’s participation opportunities in the environments they are part of, and together with the professionals find adjustments that can support the child’s communication, learning and participation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary collaborations , including infant teams, professional networks and cooperation with psychologists, pedagogical consultants and other relevant professionals.
  • Contribute to early and preventive efforts , so linguistic and communicative difficulties are identified and managed as early as possible.
  • Document and communicate your professional assessment and help create coherence between assessment, guidance and the interventions that take place in the child’s daily life.

You will have the opportunity to follow children and interventions over time and to work at the individual, group and environmental levels. We emphasize that our interventions are close to practice and can be translated into something that actually makes a difference in the children’s daily life.

We are looking for you who

  • Have a degree as an audiologist, a Diploma in Speech-Language Pathology – or are a pedagog or teacher and want to pursue the speech-language pathology education concurrently.
  • Have strong motivation to work with early and preventive interventions and with developing linguistic learning environments.
  • Are curious, relationship-oriented and good at translating professional knowledge into practice in a way that is meaningful for those you collaborate with.
  • Thrive in a multidisciplinary and dynamic work environment.
  • Have a resource-oriented view of children, families and partners.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Are eager to develop your professional skills with us and at the same time contribute to the development of our field with new ideas and creative approaches to tasks.

We offer

  • A warm, engaged and professionally ambitious work environment with room for humor.
  • Close collegial sparring, a mentoring scheme with weekly sparring sessions during the onboarding period, as well as internal and external supervision.
  • High degree of flexibility and the possibility of self-scheduling.
  • Good opportunities for professional development.
  • A daily life with opportunities for both professional depth, independent responsibility and close collaboration with skilled colleagues.

If you want to be part of a community where we both share star moments and learn from what is difficult – we would love to hear from you.

Apply! We are clearly best in reality.

At brk.dk you can read more about the municipality, which with 3,600 employees is the island’s unequivocal largest workplace.

BRK is a smoke-free workplace.
