About the job

PPR Bornholm seeks a Speech and Hearing Consultant – starting January 1, 2027

Do you dream of working closely with children and young people – and at the same time experience Bornholm up close? Then it might be you we are looking for!

If you are not already a Bornholmer, it’s just to pack the moving boxes. It is lovely here year-round – also in winter – and we would very much like to welcome you to both the island and our professional community.

In PPR Bornholm we are focused on creating positive changes for children and young people in their developmental environments and communities. With one more colleague on the team, we will be even better equipped to strengthen preventive work and increase our presence close to children – in early childcare and schools.

About us

PPR and Health Bornholm is a multidisciplinary community consisting of 11 psychologists, 6 speech and hearing consultants and 5 pedagogical consultants. We are a smaller department under the Center for Children and Learning, where proximity, collaboration and professional development are an important part of our daily life.

We work consultatively, diagnostically and evaluatively in close cooperation with day care, schools and families. We are present at the municipality’s 12 schools, 2 special schools, about 30 day care centers and in child care.

Our joint task is to support children's well-being, development, learning and participation. We have a particular focus on developing inclusive learning environments and strengthening the adults’ ability to act around the child.

With us there is room for professional depth, sparring and laughter in everyday life – and for thinking creatively when the task calls for something other than the standard solution.

In the vacant position you will have tasks both in the school and day care areas.

Your tasks as a Speech and Hearing Consultant

As a Speech and Hearing Consultant, you will become an important collaborator for children, parents and the professionals around the child. You will work both with concrete children and with the development of the linguistic and communicative learning environments around the children.

Your tasks will include, among others,

  • Advise and guide pedagogical staff, teachers and parents on children's speech, language and communication development and translate your professional knowledge into concrete actions in everyday life.
  • Investigate and assess children with speech, language and communication difficulties, including planning relevant assessments and communicating results and recommendations in a way that makes sense for the child and the adults around it.
  • Develop concrete and usable action and intervention plans together with parents and professionals and follow up on whether the interventions make a difference.
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive language environments in day care and at schools – both through concrete actions regarding children and through guidance of the adults around them.
  • Observe and analyze children’s opportunities to participate in the environments they are part of, and together with the professionals find adjustments that can support the child’s communication, learning and participation.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary collaborations , including early childhood teams, professional networks and collaboration with psychologists, pedagogical consultants and other relevant professionals.
  • Contribute to early and preventive efforts , so linguistic and communicative difficulties are detected and addressed as early as possible.
  • Document and communicate your professional assessment and help create coherence between assessment, guidance and the actions taking place in the child’s daily life.

You will have the opportunity to follow children and interventions over time and to work at individual, group and environmental levels. We emphasize that our interventions are close to practice and can be translated into something that actually makes a difference in the children’s daily lives.

We are looking for you who

  • Have an education as an audiologist, a pedagogical diploma in speech-language pathology – or are a pedagogue or teacher and would like to take the speech-language pathology education alongside.
  • Have strong motivation to work with early and preventive interventions and with the development of linguistic learning environments.
  • Are curious, relationship-building and good at translating professional knowledge into practice in a way that is perceived as meaningful by those you collaborate with.
  • Thrive in a multidisciplinary and dynamic work environment.
  • Have a resource-oriented view of children, families and partners.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate easily across professions.
  • Want to develop your professional skills with us while also contributing to the development of our field with new ideas and creative thoughts in solving tasks.

We offer

  • A warm, engaged and professionally ambitious work environment with room for humor.
  • Close collegial sparring, mentoring with weekly sparring in the startup period as well as internal and external supervision.
  • High degree of flexibility and the possibility for self-scheduling.
  • Good opportunities for competence development.
  • A daily life with the possibility for both professional depth, independent responsibility and close collaboration with skilled colleagues.

If you want to be part of a community where we both share bright moments and learn from what is difficult – we would very much like to hear from you.

Apply! We are clearly best in reality.

On brk.dk you can read more about the municipality, which with 3,600 employees is the island’s unequivocally largest workplace.

BRK is a smoke-free workplace.

We help you settle in

It is a big decision to move to the 'sunny island' – so you are not alone with it. We have a settlement consultant who helps with housing, a job for your spouse and school or leisure activities for the family's youngest. Read more here.
