About the job

Would you like to work with people with mental health challenges? Do you see the benefits of cross-disciplinary work? And can you imagine a daily life with many balls in the air? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for! We offer one permanent position as SSA as of January 1, 2027 . The position is 32-37 hours in mixed shifts, but mainly day/night. In addition, you have the option to choose to work every third weekend in 12-hour shifts or every other weekend in 8-hour shifts.

About Section P1

Section P1 is a general psychiatric inpatient ward with an acute intake function for adults aged 18–69 years. The ward has both open and closed functions and houses a total of 18 inpatient beds. P1 receives adult patients from the municipalities of Assens and Middelfart who require psychiatric assessment or treatment during admission. The ward is part of the Psychiatric Department of Middelfart, which also includes forensic psychiatry and a ward for detainees.

P1 accepts patients with all types of psychiatric diagnoses and works with a sharp focus on the core task. During admission, the patient pathway is planned in close collaboration with the patient, relatives, and relevant partners.

The ward has an interdisciplinary staff team, with two permanent specialists and multidisciplinary collaborators attached. The goal is to create a coherent and professionally strong patient journey during the admission period. Additionally, we are a training site for several professional groups, so we have a high flow of trainees.

What we are focused on?

We are working purposefully to be “the good workplace,” where the working environment, psychological safety, and high professional standards are in focus. We are a ward with high job satisfaction and skilled staff who every day create the best possible framework for patients in need of admission – in close collaboration with the treating physician and our multidisciplinary partners.

At the same time, we have a close collaboration with both local psychiatry and housing facilities, so patient pathways hang together across departments and sectors. This means that we extremely rarely experience overcrowding.

All this is something you can become part of, and at the same time you will be part of a team where cooperation, integrity, and respect are important core values for our ward and our work.

We want an SSA who

  • Has psychiatric experience, though not a requirement.
  • Can thrive in a sometimes busy daily life where tasks can be many and varied
  • Thrives with short patient pathways
  • Thrives in a large interdisciplinary staff group with professional curiosity
  • Can reflect on own and others’ practice and actively participate in professional sparring

We expect you to

  • Be robust; know your own boundaries, be able to say yes and no and ask for help
  • Be aware of your own area of responsibility and be able to detect and respond to changes in patient pathways
  • Meet people in crisis with calm, care and respect
  • Be responsible and able to maintain an overview in busy situations
  • Have good collaboration skills
  • Help create structure and predictability in patient pathways
  • Have an appreciative approach to both patients and colleagues

We offer

  • A daily life in a busy ward characterized by high professional standards and strong sense of community
  • A ward where the patient is at the center
  • 4-week introduction program including a mentoring scheme for one year
  • An annual cycle with fixed teaching days, where you are prepared for work in psychiatry
  • Daily reflections with your colleagues
  • Opportunities for ongoing supervision
  • Influence on your own shift planning
  • A good collegial community with plenty of humor
  • An exciting specialty in constant development

If you identify with the above, we can offer a versatile job in a professionally developing environment, where our objective is to be innovative, developing, and pioneering in psychiatric care and treatment.
