About the job

After 19 years one of our loyal employees has sought new pastures, therefore the Logistics & Service department is seeking as soon as possible or by 1 January 2027 a new employee for the Sterile Central at Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospitals.

On-site at Esbjerg Hospital

The position is a permanent full-time employment, 37 hours/week.

We offer: An exciting workplace with a focus on quality, service and working environment. We are 22 dedicated and motivated colleagues. A good mix of smaller and very experienced colleagues of both genders.

We are a service and production department; our core task is reprocessing of surgical multi-use instruments in the form of pretreatment, cleaning, inspection, packing, packaging, labeling and sterilization.

It involves different types of tasks that require good physical condition, as we move many instrument containers with weights up to 10 kg; in addition, the job requires a sense of concentration, detail and overview.

We work with documentation and tracking of instruments using an electronic traceability system. We have a close collaboration with the operating room and other departments that use sterile multi-use instruments. We work according to the National Infection Hygiene Guidelines (NIR).

We place emphasis on a good working environment, as well as having a department with high professional quality in everything we do. We expect you to contribute positively and constructively to a good working environment, and to be able to work in a structured way in a busy daily routine.

Your tasks: Will switch between: Fetching/bringing instruments around the building

Manual pretreatment/washing of instruments in the receiving area

Inspection and packing of instruments in containers, loading to autoclaves

Some days you walk many steps, other days you stand more still, where the work includes repeated movements and lifting

Depending on your previous experience, training is expected to take about 3 months and takes place as buddy training. During the training period you primarily work day shifts

Esbjerg Hospital is an acute hospital, therefore in our production there will be periods of high activity and other periods more quiet – you must be able to adapt to this.

Your working hours: The working hours are changing, currently in the time period from 7:00 to 14:30 on day shifts and from 12:00 to 19:30 or 13:00 to 20:30 on afternoon shifts, but this can change. As a rule you work alternately one week afternoon / one week day shift. There may be periods with an excess of afternoon shifts.

All employees work about 1 day shift every 4 - 5 Sundays. We work some public holidays in day shifts.

If the applicant wishes to exclusively work in evening shifts, this can possibly be arranged after training. You cannot work exclusively in day shifts

Your profile: Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare background and/or knowledge of surgical instruments is an advantage, but not a necessity
  • You thrive in an organization characterized by busy-ness, unpredictability and continuous changes – and with your positive attitude you contribute to a good working environment.
  • You are able to work in a focused and goal-oriented manner - also with small details.
  • You are familiar with IT as a working tool and are technically minded.

Personal qualifications

  • You are reliable
  • You have the physical capacity to handle tasks with many lifts, pulls and pushes, as well as to be able to walk many steps. (We use safety shoes)
  • You are active and proactive, curious and adaptable to change
  • You follow given rules
  • You are welcoming and service-minded
  • You can work independently while also being part of the work community
  • You are responsible and able to work according to correct hygienic principles.
  • You can speak and read Danish without problems, as the tasks require that you quickly read, understand and perform the task correctly

Employment is conditional on a satisfactory criminal record check.

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be told the base salary, centrally fixed allowances and pension in Hospital Porters - collective agreement 32.16.1 - salary as of 01.10.2026 . In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experiences and qualifications.
