About the job

Do you work independently, and would you like a meaningful student job where you can translate your academic knowledge from your studies into practice? Then a student job in the Law and Policy Section is just right for you.

About us

The Law and Policy Section, together with the Construction Law Section, the Procurement Law Section and the Contract Management Section, belongs to the Legal Department, which is the legal competence center of the Establishment and Terrain Command with around 50 employees.

The Law and Policy Section currently consists of eight lawyers, a bachelor advisor and a student assistant, all reporting to the Section Chief. The section handles the general legal function in the Establishment and Terrain Command.

The tasks in the Law and Policy Section are broad. The section provides extensive advice on environmental, climate and energy law, generally on real property and tenancy law, as well as on public law and administrative law. The section is also responsible for handling legal disputes and for the command's policy area. In addition, the section handles compensation cases related to property damage.

When other ministries conduct consultations on new legislation, it is also the Law and Policy Section that safeguards the Armed Forces' interests by conducting consultation processes on behalf of the entire agency area, and based on this, to prepare consultation responses.

In the Law and Policy Section we have a strong focus on sparring, knowledge sharing and development of the employees, and we allocate time and resources to it.

About the positions

We are looking for two ambitious law students (LL.M. or Master of Laws) who will mainly deal with processing compensation cases and consultations in the Law and Policy Section. For one of the positions there may be periods where you will need to take on other tasks—primarily administrative—in the other sections of the Law Department.

We provide thorough training in your tasks. You will then work closely with our lawyers and take responsibility for processing and drafting decisions in compensation cases. In the same way, we also expect you to independently handle consultation cases.

We expect that in the Law and Policy Section, in addition to compensation cases and consultations, you will have the following tasks:

  • Investigate concrete legal issues and draft legal notes.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Draft contracts, letters, etc.

In the Procurement Law Section and the Contract Management Section you will have the following tasks:

  • Review and proofreading of procurement materials for EU procurement and mini-competitions
  • Upload of material to the Establishment and Terrain Command's procurement portal
  • Drafting of contract descriptions, paradigms, guidelines and other material for the Establishment and Terrain Command's contract register
  • Registration of agreements in the Establishment and Terrain Command's financial system.

You will experience close sparring and collaboration with our lawyers in an exciting and dynamic daily life, where we take time to give you feedback, and where you will be able to develop both professionally and personally.

About you

You are a law student (LL.M. or Master of Laws) and can see yourself in an organization with a high level of ambition and diverse tasks.

We expect you to have a high level of professional knowledge, and that you have an interest in property law and general administrative law.

It is also important that you can work independently and in a structured way, but at the same time are outgoing and eager to participate in the department's social life.

We expect you to be able to work about 15 hours per week on average. This will be finalized in connection with the employment. We support prioritizing your studies, so you will have a high degree of influence over when you come to work each week. During exam and holiday periods, we are flexible with varying working hours across weeks, so you can take time off in exam weeks and make up the hours in the weeks before or after the exam week.

Employment terms

As a bachelor student, the employment is under the current General Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The State Sector (OAO-S General Collective Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office staff, laboratory assistants and IT employees (HK agreement).

The workplace is Hjørring Barracks, located at Arsenalvej 55, 9800 Hjørring.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area, you are subject to some special conditions. You must, among other things, be able to obtain a security clearance and maintain the security clearance during the entire employment period.
