About the job

Are you a student and do you want a student job with responsibility, where you gain insight into authority work and contribute to tasks with significance for the import and control of goods? Then you may be our new student assistant at the border control in Aarhus.

About the position

As a student assistant you will be an important part of the daily operations at Aarhus Port. Your main tasks relate to official sealings of goods, but you will also assist with administrative tasks and customer service. You will receive thorough training and work closely with experienced colleagues, while also having independent responsibility in task execution.

Your tasks will among other things be to

  • manage our shared mailbox and receive pre-notifications
  • perform official sealings and customer service
  • prepare and return sealing certificates
  • assist with other administrative and practical tasks at the border control

You will also participate in a closing-shift arrangement together with the other student assistants. Therefore, part of the work will take place at the end of the day, after the other staff have gone home.

About you

You are a student in a higher education program and you want to gain practical experience from a public authority, where quality, responsibility and collaboration are in focus.

We imagine that you

  • work in a structured way and have a sense for detail
  • take responsibility for your tasks and see them through to completion
  • can work independently and keep an overview
  • thrive with an informal tone and close collaboration with colleagues
  • meet both colleagues and users with a service-minded and accommodating approach

It is a prerequisite that you are a student.

About us

You will become part of FødevareNord, which is one of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s three food control units. We are a total of about 130 employees connected to our offices in Aalborg and Aarhus – of which about 20 employees are located at the Aarhus Port site. We have different professional backgrounds and work with many different tasks, including inspections of food businesses. At Aarhus Port, the tasks are mainly related to import and export.

We can offer you an exciting job in a good and informal working environment, where we place emphasis on helpfulness and good collegial cooperation.

There is a strong societal interest in our work, and we believe this obligates us. Our employees give their best every day to achieve good results. We practice open and informal leadership in everyday life and place emphasis on honesty and expectation alignment between management and employees.

When should you start

We need your help from December 1 or as soon as possible, or as soon as it is feasible for you.

Your workplace for now is: Border Control, Østhavnsvej 31, 8000 Aarhus C.

Salary and employment terms

The employment is governed by the current organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees between the Ministry of Finance and HK Stat.

Your working hours are on average 8 hours per week, but overtime may occur as you participate in a duty roster with other colleagues, so vacation etc. will be covered. Working hours are between 15:00 and 18:00 on weekdays – during holidays your working hours, in collaboration with your colleagues, will cover entire days on weekdays.

Your application

We look forward to receiving your application, CV, copy of student ID and any other relevant material no later than November 13, 2026.

Interviews take place at the border control, Østhavnsvej 31, 8000 Aarhus and are expected to be held in week 47.
