About the job
Do you want to help equip the wisemen with high-quality economic analyses and contribute to independent economic advice? Then you may be our new colleague.
The job . As an employee in the Secretariat of the Economic Councils, you will contribute to the Secretariat's work in preparing and communicating independent economic analyses at a high professional level. The job is for you if you have a solid academic foundation, are passionate about socio-economic analyses, and want to learn new things. The Secretariat's areas of work cover the entire spectrum within social and environmental economics. You may, for example, be involved in:
- Conjuncture assessments and analysis of public finances using macroeconomic models
- Assessments of economic policy and planned economic-policy measures
- Climate and environmental economic analyses, including analyses of the interaction between climate policy and the economy and assessments of gains/costs of climate and environmental measures
- Microeconometric analyses and impact evaluations related to e.g. the labor market, productivity development, public services or tax policy
We are looking for skilled economists at master's or Ph.D. level who are eager to contribute to the Secretariat's work. Both experienced professionals and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Unique opportunity . Employment in the Secretariat of the Economic Councils provides a unique opportunity to apply theory and method that contribute to the decision-making basis for economic policy in Denmark. As an employee you will use your professional abilities and build on your knowledge. The employment provides the opportunity to work closely with some of the country’s best economists in the Secretariat and the chairmen of the Economic Councils – also known as the economic wisemen .
The work is characterized by ongoing learning, both professionally and in collaboration and communication. We have a good collegial working environment and good opportunities for flexible scheduling. Work is typically organized in work groups consisting of 2-4 employees. The groups are responsible for carrying out projects and analyses and receive ongoing professional and communicative sparring from colleagues in the Secretariat, managers and wisemen.
Sekretariatets mission is to create the best possible professional basis for the wisemen's recommendations through reports to the Economic Council and the Environmental Economy Council. The Secretariat must, in order to perform these tasks, possess broad professional economic knowledge of applied and theoretical economics as well as strong competencies in national economics, public finances, climate- and environmental economics, empirical analyses and model use.
The Secretariat operates from a vision of delivering analyses of the highest professional quality, so that the wisemen have the best conditions to provide independent advice to the economic decision-makers in Denmark. The analyses must be well-documented and the communication clear.
The Secretariat's central task is to conduct and communicate the analyses behind the wisemen's reports and participation in public debate. The Secretariat is also responsible for the ongoing development, documentation and maintenance of models, methods and data used in the analyses.
Qualifications
You have (or are on track to obtain) a master's degree or preferably a Ph.D. in national economics, environmental economics or similar (polit, oecon, scient. oecon or similar). We expect that you have:
- Strong professional qualifications, including insight into or interest in economic theory and empirical methods
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written
- Ability to work independently as well as with others
Salary and employment
We offer good professional development opportunities in close collaboration with colleagues and wisemen. We have a good working climate and a workplace we are proud of.
You will be employed under the State’s collective agreement for academics. Depending on your experience and competencies, you will be employed as chief consultant, senior consultant or consultant.
The positions are based in Horsens or Copenhagen, and the start date is by agreement. In the Secretariat we view diversity as a strength and encourage all interested candidates to apply regardless of personal background.
