Are you interested in special education, including especially the autism spectrum, and passionate about working with students who require a very special effort and approach.

Then we have a school where collaboration, curiosity and an appreciative approach to the students are at the forefront. Motivation and meaning for our students are often carried by special interests and academic strengths; here the staff's unique approach plays a central role.

We are seeking teachers with high professional competence as well as special educational interest and/or experience.

As of 1 August we have the following 37-hour positions available at the Ellebæk department:

• Permanent teacher for the primary level (grades 1-4)
• Permanent teacher for the middle years (grades 4-8)
• Maternity cover for the upper grades (grades 8-10)

Daily life at Ellebæk

The daily life for students at the Ellebæk department is organized with academic content in accordance with the Danish Folkeskoleloven. That is, subject-divided lessons in combination with work on personal and social skills – life skills.

Common to the students is that they have difficulties within the autism spectrum and a cognitive level within the normal range. The daily life is therefore characterized by an autism-specific special educational approach to the students and the communities, where curiosity and collaboration form the basis for daily practice.

We expect that you

• trive in working with some of the most vulnerable students in Holstebro Municipality
• have a good sense of humor and want to participate in and contribute to a good collegial community
• are emotionally robust and balanced, possessing a strong sense of collaboration
• take responsibility for ensuring that the relationship succeeds – both adult-child and child-child relationships
• take responsibility that the student's day is planned so structured, predictable and manageable that the student's opportunities to participate are optimized
• are skilled at engaging in close collaboration with the parents
• are able to operate in an environment where daily life for the adult can be unpredictable and changeable
• are passionate about cross-disciplinary collaboration both internally with the school's other subject groups including educators, counselors and therapists as well as externally, where among others the Family Section, Knowledge Center and UU are our partners.

About Special Competence Holstebro

We are organized in the departments Ellebæk, Vingehøj, Nørreland and Storå. Each department has its own specialization. Altogether we run a school for about 270 children with extensive support needs. Colleaguewise we are a good 150 staff members – of which about 47 at Ellebæk for about 137 students.

Our departments are organized in levels and each department has its own SFO offer for the students. The work with the students is organized in self-managing teams with a high degree of shared task-solving and great influence on frameworks and content.
