About the job

Are you a strong people leader with a professional interest in management and the Danish forests? Do you want to take responsibility for a team that works at the crossroads between public administration and natural science?

The Danish Agency for Green Area Planning and Water Environment (SGAV) plays a key role in the green transition. In the Forest Unit it is our task to contribute to, among other things, the afforestation goals in the agreement on Grøn Trepart and ensure a balance between utilization and protection of forests and nature - we do this both nationally and internationally.

We are organized into three teams, and we are seeking a team leader for one of the teams that administers forestry law and is responsible for case processing. The team primarily handles protected forest encumbrances, dispensation and approval matters, notification scheme and afforestation.

Your role as team leader in SGAV

As a team leader in Forest, you will be responsible for both the operation of your team and for the wellbeing and development of the employees. You must be a leader who can set direction, motivate your staff and ensure progress in task completion. You must also be able to make the necessary daily priorities of tasks and resources. The work in the unit is characterized by legal and natural science problems being solved in close collaboration. Therefore you must be able to lead a cross-disciplinary environment.

At the same time you must be able to coordinate closely with the other two team leaders. Finally you should have a good understanding of efficient operations and a curiosity about and willingness to work digitally and use it to support and streamline case processing.

We place emphasis on you

  • Have experience as a people manager and familiarity with forests as a subject area
  • Have an academic degree
  • Have knowledge of and experience with public administration
  • Thrive in leading through dialogue, trust and clear frameworks
  • Take responsibility for your own tasks as well as the development of the team
  • Are a presence and visible leader who thrives in supporting employees in their daily work and ensuring well-being

What we offer in the Forest Unit

In Forest you will be part of a strong managerial collaboration while you also take responsibility for your own case areas. Since the unit is organized with three teams across three locations in the country (Hinnerup, Odense and Nykøbing Falster) we place a strong emphasis on close and trusting collaboration, which must function remotely in everyday life but also with prioritized meetings in common. The unit has a chief of office and comprises about 45 employees.

We have natural science staff, generalists and lawyers. The work in the unit lies at the crossroads between natural science knowledge, legislation and public administration, and we largely solve our tasks by combining different disciplines and in collaboration with other units in the agency.

You will become part of a leadership group where we collectively set common goals and direction for the unit. We place emphasis on dialogue and trust, where there is room to speak up – both when something works and when something could be improved.

Conditions of employment

You will be employed as a chief consultant with personnel management in accordance with the current collective agreement for academics in the state, and there will be an opportunity to negotiate supplements according to qualifications.

The employing area is the Ministry of Nature & Animal Welfare with associated institutions and the service location is the Agency for Green Area Planning and Water Environment, Fejøgade 1, 4800 Nykøbing F.

It is a permanent full-time position, to be filled as soon as possible.
