Two consultants for the Surgical Department, Randers Regional Hospital

We are seeking two specialists in surgery for the Surgical Department at Randers Regional Hospital with starting date as soon as possible or by agreement.

We welcome a broad field of applicants for surgical specialists – both recent graduates who wish to develop their skills further, and experienced specialists who want to apply their experience and influence the department's continued development.

Here you will have the opportunity to shape your professional profile and actively contribute to the development of our surgical offerings. We have a particular focus on benign surgery, including hernia surgery and proctology, advanced endoscopy and colon surgery. At the same time we are developing our surgical offerings, including robot-assisted surgery, which opens up exciting perspectives for the department's future surgical work. About you

We are seeking two surgeons who can contribute to the department's clinical duties and professional development. We are open to different competence profiles and place emphasis on the individual applicant's experience, professional interests and development potential.

We imagine that you

• Have an interest in developing or applying your surgical skills, particularly in laparoscopic surgery.
• Have an interest in benign surgery, colon surgery and/or endoscopy. You are preferably a capable endoscopist or wish to develop your skills in the area.
• Are professionally curious and eager to contribute to the department's development.
• Have an interest in research and/or education. Commitment in these areas will be prioritized.
• Are collaborative, communicatively strong and take responsibility for the community.

We do not expect you to cover all areas from day one. The most important is that you are eager to contribute with your competences and interests and actively participate in the department's overall development. Your tasks and opportunities for specific areas of responsibility will be planned in dialogue with you and based on the department's needs, your competences and interests.

About the Surgical Department

The Surgical Department handles emergency and elective surgery with a focus on gallbladder and hernia surgery, including pediatric hernia surgery, as well as endoscopy. We are a regional center in the Central Denmark Region for the assessment and treatment of advanced pilonidal disease.

We collaborate with the Department of General and GI Surgery at Aarhus University Hospital and thus form part of one of the country’s largest colorectal surgical centers. At Randers Regional Hospital we perform more than 300 colon surgeries annually.

Our endoscopic department performs more than 11,000 endoscopies annually, including colonoscopies as part of the colorectal cancer screening program as well as ERCP.

The Surgical Department is part of the Surgical Joint Department, which also includes Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Urinary Tract Surgery Clinic, ENT Clinic, the Ophthalmology department, the operating suite, endoscopic examinations and the Sterile Services Department.

Your responsibilities

As a specialist, you will be part of the department's overall clinical functions and participate in the on-call duty with presence during shifts. Shifts are organized with a day function and an evening/night function.

Your primary area will depend on your competencies and interests as well as the department's needs and may for example be benign surgery, colon surgery and/or endoscopy. There will also be opportunities to engage in research, education and quality development.
