About the job

Are you passionate about creating strong learning communities, developing children's academic and social skills and making a difference in students' daily lives? Then it might be you we are looking for.

At Bangsbostrand-Gærum School we are seeking a music teacher and a Danish teacher for two fixed full-time positions. We seek relationship-capable teachers who are well grounded in a resource-oriented view of children, and who will help to translate Frederikshavn Municipality's view of children:

"Children and young people do well under the circumstances and frameworks they are in" into inclusive and participatory learning environments.

We want teachers who see the value in collaboration, community and professional development, and who want to be an active part of the school's continued development.

Music teacher

We are looking for a music teacher who not only wants to teach music but who also wants to be co-creating in the development of the school's music culture.

We are in the midst of an exciting development where music should play an even larger role in the school's communities, traditions and learning environments. We have a strong focus on music as a unifying force and collaborate closely with Frederikshavn Music School.

In Frederikshavn Municipality, the schools and the Music School work closely to develop music education for children and young people from 0th-9th grade. Through collegial networks, co-teaching, shared teaching sequences and ongoing professional development, both teachers' professionalism and the musical communities across schools and districts are strengthened.

The Music School offers each year co-teaching programs in the early years, joint activities, annual Children’s Racedays, as well as workshops and network days for the municipality's music teachers. For music electives in grades 7-9, the collaboration is further supported through joint events, teacher workshops and mentoring programs, where the Music School's instructors contribute directly to the schools' teaching.

As a music teacher in Frederikshavn Municipality, you are never alone; there are always colleagues to brainstorm with, be inspired by and develop practice together with, for the benefit of children and young people across the municipality.

Danish teacher

We are seeking a professionally strong Danish teacher with high ambitions on behalf of the students. You should want to create motivating teaching, support students' reading, writing and language development and contribute to strong learning communities where all students experience opportunities to participate.

About us

You will become part of a dynamic and collaborative staff, where we work across year groups and subject areas. You will join in committed professional learning communities, good collegial connections and a shared focus on creating an attractive workplace.

Bangsbostrand-Gærum School is spread over two campuses; one in the town and one in the countryside. This gives us the opportunity to offer the best of two worlds with proximity, strong communities and academic ambitions.

We offer

  • About 55 staff and 630 students from 0-9 grades across two campuses.
  • Professional learning communities at all levels with focus on data, reflection and joint development.
  • A school with ambitions and a strong focus on creating participation opportunities for all students.
  • Close collaboration with parents as well as internal and external partners.
  • An active staff association that contributes to well-being, job satisfaction and community.

We emphasize that you

  • Are a trained teacher - especially in music and Danish.
  • Have strong relational skills and an appreciative view of children.
  • Can create inclusive learning environments with a focus on participation opportunities for all students.
  • Are a team player who actively contributes to professional learning communities.
  • See the value in close collaboration with colleagues, parents and partners.
  • Are curious about your own practice and motivated by shared development.

Our approach to children and young people

We work from Frederikshavn Municipality's view of children: "Children and young people do well under the circumstances and frameworks they are in."

That means that we meet students with understanding and respect for their individual conditions and developmental potential. We believe that all children and young people have resources, and we work purposefully to create the best conditions for their well-being, learning and participation in the community.
