About the job

Two introductory positions in internal medicine: gastroenterology and hepatology are available to fill as 1-year positions with start respectively January 1, 2027 (position number 6620-36-01-i-06) and March 1, 2027 (position number 6620-36-01-i-07).

The job posting is aimed at doctors who have not previously completed an introductory post in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Employment can, however, be granted by a personal dispensation if there are particular circumstances. Dispensation is sought from and processed by the postgraduate training regions after agreement with the employing department. Any employment is conditional on approval of dispensation.

Our department has a reputation for being a good clinical teaching site with a high academic level. We strive for patient pathways based on the utmost professional standards in solid interdisciplinary collaboration with the department's nursing staff, dietitians, laboratory technicians, secretaries and physiotherapists.

The atmosphere in the department is characterized by humor and an informal tone, where cohesion within the medical group has a high priority.

Job description

As a junior doctor you will participate in shifts in a two-shift operation to receive acutely ill medical patients in the ACUTE Department as well as in your own department. During the 12 months of employment there will be a focus on shifts in the Acute Admissions, ward rounds on your own department as well as endoscopic simulator certification and finally the clinic's ambulatory patients with the possibility to observe and assist in acute endoscopies. Thus there is ample opportunity to acquire skills in both internal medicine and highly specialized gastroenterology and hepatology.

Our evidence-based clinical approach to disease is supported by a specialty research unit in rapid development. Currently we have about 25 full-time researchers employed in a young dynamic research environment. If you are interested in research, there will be opportunities to be involved in the department's research to a greater or lesser extent.

Qualifications

As our future colleague we would like a curious, meticulous and flexible team player who will invest efforts with us to have a fantastic workplace.

Denmark's complete hospital

AUH is an internationally recognized and highly specialized university hospital, which at the same time is an acute hospital for 362,000 citizens in Aarhus. We are united in one hospital city with 10,500 staff, who collaborate in strong communities across professions and departments. We are the country's complete hospital with both broad and the highest professional expertise, where we meet the whole person and achieve results through collaboration.

We research in close collaboration with Aarhus University and with regional, national and international partners. AUH is the only Danish hospital that is a member of the European Hospital Alliance, EUHA, just as the hospital is a member of 19 European networks for rare diseases (ERN).

In these years we are particularly focused on developing the hospital for tomorrow's reality, where AUH should contribute to coherence in the health system by taking responsibility for a larger number of patients while we become fewer staff members to perform the tasks.

LMT has about 150 employees spread across different professional groups, including 18 medical specialists and 6 professors. The ward is characterized by a large flow of both highly specialized patients with liver diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel failure, neuroendocrine tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplanted patients.
