Introductory positions in internal medicine at the Department of Cardiology, Aabenraa

Two introductory positions are available for occupancy as of March 1, 2027 or by agreement.

Department of Cardiology, Aabenraa consists of

Ward with 22 inpatient beds (20 cardiology and 2 internal medicine) as well as day hospital. The acute cardiac patients are received in FAM.

• Large cardiology outpatient clinic.
• Large echo outpatient clinic, including TEE and stress echocardiography.
• Pacemaker implants, pacemaker/ICD outpatient clinic
• Cardiac CT
• Cardiac MR
• Lipid outpatient clinic.
• Atrial fibrillation clinic,
• AK clinic,
• Heart failure clinic.
• We work closely with Cardiology Department B, OUH, and have weekly video-based conferences.

You will be part of the cardiology on-call team, which is a presence-on-call shift in a 9-10 shift rotation. You will primarily see cardiology patients during the on-call shift, in close collaboration with the cardiology on-call back-up. The cardiology back-up has on-call presence from 08.00 – 21.00 and on-call housing with 30 minutes call-out from 21.00 – 08.00. Around the clock, FAM on-call is present in the presence-on-call.

Your tasks after introduction will consist of

• To work with telemedicine triage and reception of acute cardiology patients around the clock.
• To be part of the cardiac arrest team.
• To participate in ward rounds on predominantly cardiology patients.
• To manage the junior cardiology doctor outpatient clinic.
• To perform DC conversions electively and acutely in collaboration with anaesthesia.
• There is good supervision and backup for all of the above functions.

The department prioritizes education highly, and therefore there is also the possibility for:

• Training in echocardiography with 2 weeks of focused training during the first 3-4 months, thereafter the possibility of your own supervised echo outpatient clinic
• Participation in national courses after relevant application in, for example, ALS, DCS echo course.
• Monthly educational days
• Formalized teaching twice a week
• A daily routine where time is allocated for professional sparing and supervision
• In collaboration with your main supervisor, ongoing individual education plans are developed to suit your needs and strengths, with a simultaneous focus on improving your competencies.

There is a well-established research unit at Sygehus Sønderjylland, with opportunities to participate in research projects.

There is also the possibility to rent nearly new doctors' housing, located within walking distance of the hospital.
