About the job

Would you like to help build a new department? We are seeking a committed and skilled special educational needs teacher for 37 hours, who enjoys developing and creating structures and frameworks for our new students.

The group currently consists of 2 students in 1st and 3rd grade, but is expected to grow. The students have autism and significant language challenges.

You will be involved in building the team, and at the start it will be you and one educator, with an assistant attached. If you know an educator you work very well with, and who is also passionate about creating a good school environment and well-being for children, you are welcome to apply for the positions as a team. There are always a minimum of two adults present in every lesson.

It is important that you understand and find meaning in working with children who are challenged academically, emotionally, and socially. You meet children with relational competence, presence, curiosity and openness, and can balance structure and predictability with flexibility and adaptations. You are able to plan and implement practice-oriented, motivating and often alternative teaching aimed at the individual needs. You are skilled in autism education and children with language difficulties.

And you have a positive and constructive approach to building a new department. There can be plenty of bumps along the way and things that don’t work, but there is also high spirits and room to dream, and we solve the task together. Your ideas are crucial, the task is professionally developing and our mindset is "we'll figure it out together".

We need you to thrive in a small autonomous environment – initially only two children and a small team – in an independent building at Herfølge School, where we currently have facilities. Holmehus Special School is a few kilometers away. You will participate in staff meetings and events with the rest of the staff at Holmehus Special School.

The team has scheduled weekly meetings and receives ongoing supervision, so there are good frameworks for professional sparring, development, and well-being.

We work closely with PPR and with the students in the communicative, physical and psychological space. We have a motor room and work in a sensorimotor way.

Our uncompromising view of humanity is that "children do the best they can" – and that is the driving force in our work every day.

We use low arousal and mentalization as part of daily interaction with the students.

In the Municipality of Køge, an work-time agreement has been negotiated with 0.5 as a preparation factor.

We are very focused on, together, creating a fantastic workplace, which among other things presupposes participation, engagement, and a good working environment.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the agreement between KL and DLF. We have a local agreement with time for all tasks and presence obligations during the scheduled teaching time and at meetings, as well as in the week after the summer holidays.

If you would like to know more about the position and possibly arrange a visit to the school, you can contact the school principal Corinna Hansen at tel. 23130194 (except week 42).

Application deadline October 22, 2026 at 23:59.

The position is 37 hours.

Starting no later than December 1, 2026.

We will conduct interviews on an ongoing basis.

If appointed to the position, a children's criminal records check and a criminal records check will be obtained.

We prefer that you submit your application online. Click on "Apply for the position" and attach your application and your CV.
