About the job
Would you like to help create the planning- and authority-based foundation for future wastewater and climate adaptation solutions? And do you have experience with wastewater planning, municipal processes and environmental legislation? Then maybe you are the one we are looking for. Our portfolio is growing, and we are seeking an experienced wastewater planner who will advise municipalities and utilities on wastewater plans, amendments to wastewater plans, rainfall management and climate adaptation. Create solutions for a better future
We are looking for a wastewater planner who can assist the country’s wastewater authorities in the preparation of wastewater plans, amendments to wastewater plans and administrative basis – and who can connect planning to concrete projects, local plans, development of buildings and rainfall management plans.
You will become part of our Water and Climate Adaptation department with 170 skilled and dedicated colleagues spread across offices nationwide. Regardless of where you base yourself, you will be part of a nationwide professional environment for wastewater planning and authority, where we work closely together, spar and share knowledge across.
You will influence
You help create the planning basis for how municipalities and utilities prioritize, develop and implement the future handling of rainwater and wastewater.
Your responsibility
As a wastewater planner you help set the framework for future sewerage systems. You create structure in planning and ensure that wastewater plans, amendments, projects and municipal decision-making processes are aligned – in close collaboration with municipalities, utilities, project managers and specialists.
Your primary tasks will
- Develop wastewater plans, amendments to wastewater plans and administrative basis
- Handle wastewater plan data in our S-plan program, which a large part of the country’s municipalities work with
- Advise wastewater authorities on wastewater-planning matters in connection with development of buildings, local plans and rainfall management plans
- Identify and structure needs for authority applications, approvals and exemptions across project phases
- Collaborate with project managers and disciplines on legislation, framework conditions and planning hierarchy
- Engage in dialogue with municipalities, utilities, developers and other stakeholders
Your profile
You have a solid interest in regulatory work and planning in the wastewater and environmental field. You understand the framework of the laws, the municipal processes and the political considerations that affect planning. At the same time you are professionally grounded, structured and good at translating complex frameworks into clear advice and concrete decision-making grounds.
We envision that you
- Have experience with wastewater planning in the early stages – from municipality, utility or consultant
- Have knowledge of environmental law, especially the wastewater regulations
- Understand municipal processes, planning hierarchy and the interplay between wastewater plans, local plans and concrete projects
- Have experience with authority processes, stakeholder dialogue and political servicing
- Communicate clearly – both in writing and orally – and thrive in advising clients and partners
Why you should choose us
- You will have influence on plans and the basis for decisions that shape future rain and wastewater management.
- You will become part of a strong nationwide professional environment with specialists in planning, authority, hydraulics, nature and environment.
- You will get flexibility, responsibility and the opportunity to develop your professional skills in an area of increasing societal importance.
We offer an exciting job with high professionalism, great responsibility and the opportunity to shape the development of future wastewater and climate adaptation solutions. You will become part of an open and informal working environment where we value engagement, integrity, collaboration and professional sparring.
At COWI we focus on flexibility and on ensuring that work-life balance is possible. Our way of working provides the possibility to work from home when tasks allow. In addition we offer good employment terms, health insurance, canteen scheme, coffee and fruit arrangement, massage arrangement, staff association and access to a number of corporate agreements.
