Are you keen to make a positive difference for a child, and at the same time give his family a break in daily life? Then it may be you we are looking for as a substitute caregiver for a 10-year-old boy

About the job

As a substitute caregiver, you will look after and be with the boy at home and on outings outside the home. Your task is to create safe and good surroundings where he can thrive, and where the parents have the opportunity for a break.

The boy has been diagnosed with infantil autism and delayed psychomotor development. He has significant communicative and developmental challenges and does not have a functional spoken language. He communicates, among other things, using pictograms, a few English words and nonverbal expressions.

He understands more than he can express, and it is therefore important that you are present, patient and attentive to his signals. Structure, recognizability and predictability help create security for him.

An important task with a focus on safety and security

The boy needs close supervision and must not be left alone. He may turn on the stove and forget to turn it off, just as he may run away from you.

You are therefore responsible for his safety and well-being when you are together. It is important that you are attentive, can stay calm and take responsibility to prevent risk situations.

What can you do together?

The boy enjoys, among other things,

• computer and iPad, where he especially enjoys editing videos and working with music
• bus trips and small excursions, e.g. to playgrounds
• roller coasters, which he is particularly fond of

You may be creative and base activities on his interests so you can together have some good and cozy moments.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is caring, responsible and patient, and who wants to create a safe relationship with the boy.

It is an advantage if you have experience with children with autism or other developmental and communicative challenges, but the most important thing is that you are engaged, present and willing to get to know the boy.

Salary and terms of employment

The job is based in 2700 Brønshøj, but the workplace may vary, as some shifts may involve trips and activities outside the home.

Working hours are generally every other weekend and start as soon as possible. There may also be opportunities for weekday shifts if needed and the possibility to arrange the work accordingly.

You will be employed on an hourly basis with an hourly wage of 132.51 DKK per hour.
