About us

The Establishment and Terrain Command is, in short, the Ministry of Defence’s property company. That is, we create, develop and operate facilities for the entire Defence.

We are a large nationwide workplace that expects further growth over the coming years. In terms of area, we can be compared to a medium-sized municipality.

You will work in our Establishment and Geodata Section, where we work with geospatial data (GIS) and building master data (CAD/Revit) as well as our ICT specifications.

We must ensure that data are accessible and valid, so the rest of the organization can make data-driven decisions on an updated and accurate basis. Our section consists of employees with many different educations. It ranges from land surveyors, building technicians, technical drafters, technical assistants and surveying technicians. The most important thing is not what your education is, but what you are passionate about and what you can do.

About the position

We have many different tasks, and we are missing you as part of our team of GIS administrators, as the rest of the company is eager for solutions, apps and GIS data. We look ahead to a 2027 when there will be even more demand for solutions and data to support our business development projects.

You will work with almost everything in the GIS world, ranging from nerding with data, project management, daily operation of our web GIS solutions, setting up and implementing GIS apps, teaching users, communicating with/challenging the rest of the company so we can make their everyday life easier, preparing requirements specifications and checking data deliveries. Each day brings new challenges, and you must help create and develop the position through working with GIS tasks.

You will have a large range of contact with large parts of the organization as well as external suppliers.

You will have the opportunity to develop yourself through ongoing competence building and actively participate in professional forums such as ERFA groups and conferences.

We have a good and informal tone in the department, and there is a high degree of freedom in task solving as well as the possibility of home office days. You will work at our headquarters, which is located in Hjørring (it sounds far away, but it is only 35 minutes by car from Aalborg).

About you

You have a relevant education and can, through examples, document that you have the necessary technical understanding and experience from previous jobs to fill the position. Examples of relevant education include short- and land surveying technician or technical designer, as well as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in geography, geodesy, engineering, or a related field.

We would like you to

• Have experience with the ESRI program suite
• Be solution-oriented and able to balance between theory and practice
• Have experience with data modeling, data cleansing and possibly scripting to automate tasks
• Have well-developed analytical skills
• Be able to work structurally
• Be good at acquiring new and complex knowledge
• Be able to build business understanding with a sense for supporting processes with data

Furthermore you must be good at expressing yourself orally and in writing, and be able to communicate in Danish and English at business level.

You are independent, curious, proactive and energetic by nature, and you have experience/understanding of project management.

You have a driving licence for passenger cars (B).

Terms of employment

You are employed under the applicable collective agreement at any given time.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating a supplement. The position is tied to an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Hjørring.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence’s area you are subject to certain special conditions. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.

You as an employee have an obligation to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.

About the Establishment- and Terrain Command

The Establishment- and Terrain Command (ETK) is part of the Defence. We ensure good physical facilities for the Defence and other authorities under the Ministry of Defence. Our more than 2100 employees work with construction, maintenance, area care, building operations and catering. The headquarters are in Hjørring, but most of us also support locally at the country’s service locations.
