Case Handlers for the Operations Section in the Finance and Operations Staff

Do you want to help develop and influence the Defence’s planning and governance? Then the Economy- and Operations Staff (OD) are now seeking two new case officers for the Operations Section, where you will become a case officer for one or more of the Defence Command’s authorities. In addition you will have other areas of responsibility based on your service background as well as the competencies and qualifications you possess.

About us

The Operations Section (DS) is primarily responsible for the Defence Command’s planning and the operational management of the current year + 2 years. This involves preparing, updating, synchronizing and following up on the Defence Command’s planning documents in the form of planning foundations and dimensioning foundations in collaboration with the Operations Staff and with inclusion of the services and commands.

The Operations Section is part of the Economy- and Operations Staff (OD). OD, together with the Development and Planning Section (UP), the Operations Staff (OP) and the Management Secretariat (LE), constitutes the Defence Staff. OD is generally responsible for all cross-cutting operational matters that do not concern force deployment or development and acts as a link between the Defence Command’s services/Commands/authorities, the supporting agencies and Defence leadership as well as the Ministry of Defence’s department.

OD consists of a leadership element, a Steering Department and the Business Controlling Department. The Operations Section (DS) is placed in the Steering Department, which together with the Coordination and Steering Section, the Establishment Section and the Audit- and Compliance section focuses on the Defence Command’s internal governance, prioritization and planning.

We are a section where the tone is open and where there is great flexibility with regard to working hours, presence and remote work.

About the positions

Two positions are offered and are placed in the Operations Section, which consists of a section head and 7 case officers.

Two positions are currently located in Copenhagen (HK9) and 6 are located in Karup. The vacant positions have a service location in Karup.

As a starting point you will be assigned responsibility for one or more NIV II authorities. As an authority case officer you will be required to initiate the ongoing planning and operational governance. The positions thus place great demands on you to be outgoing and engaged and to involve case officers from all relevant authorities in a timely manner.

For both positions there are therefore strong requirements that you are outgoing and engaged and timely involve case officers from all relevant authorities.

Besides the authority-specific tasks, a typical day as a case officer could also include preparation of task requests to other staff/commands/authorities, quality assurance of received products, preparation of analyses, handling of consultation responses, preparation of case briefs for Defence leadership or preparation of hand files and briefings for use at ad hoc meetings with Defence leadership, the Chief of Defence’s steering forum or similar.

The positions are advertised as both military and civilian appointments.

About you

You preferably have experience with similar tasks and perhaps have worked in a similar organization to ours.

We imagine that you have a relevant education in administration, governance and organization at MSc level. The crucial thing is that through education and experience you have developed strong competencies in analysis, management support and advisory work.

To succeed in the position it is important

• It motivates and interests you to work with governance and planning at a strategic business level.
• You are not afraid to stand by your recommendations, even if it may have noticeable consequences for force production, deployability or task solving at the services and commands.
• One of your most important qualifications is your holistic view, where you can see cases across the Defence Command’s authorities, including bringing in the necessary knowledge in areas such as materiel conditions, establishment conditions, personnel conditions, economics, etc., and to see the connections of the case to other cases and processes.
• You are change-ready, development-oriented and contribute with improvement proposals for the governance area and the section’s working methods.
• You are strong both analytically and procedurally, and you work independently and responsibly.
• You are a person who can handle many irons in the fire at the same time.
• You are a good and stringent communicator in both written and spoken form.

Employment terms

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the prevailing collective agreement at all times.

If you are an academic, you will be employed under the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and several academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have an office education or another relevant education, you will be employed under the prevailing General Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S General Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office staff, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating allowances. There is a employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

As an employee under the Defence Ministry’s area you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Your fixed place of duty is Karup Air Station.
