About the job

Do you want to contribute to Ukraine's freedom struggle? Do you thrive in a daily life with close dialogue with many partners, high strategic importance and a strong focus on execution?

Then this job might be something for you.

About us

The Ukraine Department is the center for the Ministry of Defence's Defence Materials and Procurement Agency (FMI) donations and support efforts to Ukraine, including donations, educational support, collaboration with industry and trade associations, conferences, etc. Donations to Ukraine have since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 had great political focus, and is a complex and important task for FMI.

The Ukraine Department consists of a head and two sections (UA1 and UA2). In total we are 16 civilian colleagues. We carry out our tasks in close cooperation with FMI's other divisions and departments, the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Command and the Danish embassy in Kyiv.

We place emphasis on well-being and job satisfaction in a positive, supportive and often busy atmosphere, where we actively collaborate to reach our common goals. We always strive to deliver our best and offer you good opportunities for personal and professional development.

About the positions

We currently have two vacant AC trainee positions. You will be employed in either UA1 or UA2. Each section consists of a head and six-to-seven employees. We place great emphasis on helping each other across sections.

UA1 is responsible for coordinating and driving large donations acquisitions outside the government pools. This includes donations from the so-called Danish Model, where acquisitions are made from the Ukrainian defence industry. Here UA1's role is to perform military-technical screenings of companies in Ukraine. The section also conducts large acquisitions from the Danish defence industry. Finally, the section handles tasks related to educational support and transportation in connection with donations in cooperation with the Defence Command.

UA2 is responsible for making procurements for donations by allocating funds from the Industry Fund and the Innovation Fund for Ukraine.

We ensure prioritization of which Ukrainian needs are met, which companies are contracted to deliver the necessary material, and carry out concrete donation processes from the first dialogue to contract conclusion to delivery of material in Ukraine – all in close cooperation with good colleagues from other parts of the Defence Materiel and Procurement Agency and relevant Ukrainian and Danish authorities.

Furthermore, the section is responsible for solving various government tasks (political questions, access to information, audits, etc.).

You will have independent responsibility to drive a number of large procurement processes that culminate in a concrete donation of equipment to Ukraine. This will involve tasks such as close dialogue with defense companies, internal coordination meetings with material specialists and procurement lawyers, coordination with the Defence Command, the ministry, the Kyiv embassy, and the preparation of decision proposals, etc.

You will therefore have a varied everyday life with wide contact with important actors at different levels, while maintaining a relevant tactical focus on supporting Ukraine. We value that we are diverse and contribute with different skills and perspectives on the task. Therefore we will also review the distribution of tasks within the department's areas of responsibility when you join.

About you

We are looking for a colleague who will be able to manage the task relatively quickly on their own. We have many collaboration interfaces and extensive coordination with a number of partners. It is therefore important that you are comfortable acting independently within given frames, that you have a constructive and solution-oriented communication style, and that you are able to stand firm when necessary.

You should thrive on preparing various written case presentations, conducting coordination meetings, where you will often play a central role in finding appropriate paths and solutions and contributing to the continuous improvement of our case processing.

We would like you to have experience working in a government authority. If you also have experience in project work and/or collaboration with the defence sector, this will be useful. At the top of that, we place a high value on the right personality and approach to the work. Knowledge of the Armed Forces, FMI and an interest in defence technology and military materiel is a positive factor but not a requirement.

Terms of employment

The employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility of negotiating a supplement. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

Your fixed workplace will be at FMI in Ballerup.

As an employee of the Ministry of Defence group, you must be able to obtain security clearance and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

You as an employee have an obligation to perform service outside the country, including units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to know more about the positions, you are welcome to contact the head of UA1 at phone 2175 2091 and the head of UA2 at phone 2481 3226.

If you have questions about pay or terms of employment, you can contact HR Consultant at the Personnel Command, Mia Carlsson at phone 3266 5716.

The application deadline is 17 November 2026, and interviews are expected to be held on 24 November 2026. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible.

You apply for the position via the link, and we ask you to attach the application, CV and a copy of the educational certificate. Please note that attachments must be added in PDF format.
