About the job

Are you passionate about working with early intervention, professional challenges, meaningful tasks and close contact with both families and your colleagues?

Can you say yes to the above – then read on here.

At Your Social Entrance Children Amager we are about 250 engaged employees who handle the authority responsibility for the district's vulnerable children and young people aged 0-18 (23) years. It is natural for us to have a high professional ambition level and continuously develop competencies, methods and interventions.

Across professions we solve tasks, and we have many functions in our house – including network consultants, school and daycare social workers, psychologists, family therapists, contact persons etc.

As advisor in Strengthened Reception you are anchored in the heart of the house, where all first-contact inquiries from citizens and partners are received. We receive and assess about 5,000 notifications every year.

As child and youth advisor in the intake, your everyday life is varied and unpredictable. In one moment you provide relevant guidance to a family or make a decision, and the next you handle an acute notification where action is required immediately. You will become part of an engaged team where we stand together, think aloud together and find solutions together – even when pace is high. You should, like us, thrive in a varied day.

About Strengthened Reception

In Strengthened Reception you will become part of a work community of about 50 employees who are passionate about swift, legally correct and socially professionally well-founded handling of concerns we receive about children and young people in our area.

We handle all notifications and inquiries that come in. We perform 24-hour assessments of all incoming notifications and act urgently when the situation requires it. Here, especially acting after the abuse package is a central part of our work.

Our department focuses on how a case enters the organization, the weight of cases and on strengthening coordination with our partners in the general area and the early preventive interventions for families.

In addition you perform case handling in your own caseload with focus on quick clarification and early preventive action. Involvement of children and families is weighted highly, as well as close collaboration with the department's day-care and school social workers, colleagues in life-stage groups and Family House as well as other actors in civil society as a fixed and natural part of our daily life.

You will be part of a team of 10 child and youth advisers and a department head.

About you

You have an educational background as social worker/social facilitator with knowledge of the Child Act. It would be good if you have experience with authority work within vulnerable children and young people. If you are newly trained, we will ensure solid training in the tasks. We expect you to be able to work systematically and be good at planning your workday independently. We also expect you to ask for help when you are in doubt.

It is an advantage if you

  • can work systematically and structurally
  • are a strong communicator – both orally and in writing
  • can set demands and be insistent in cooperation with families and coordinate cross-disciplinary efforts in close dialogue with families and partners
  • have the courage to take on the authority role – including conducting motivational conversations with children, youths and parents
  • contribute with energy, commitment, curiosity and humor.

We emphasize that you have an appreciative and solution-focused approach to working with families and at the same time dare to think creatively in problem solving, even if you do not have long-standing knowledge of the child or the young person and the family.

You must be able to work independently, but thrive in team collaboration while also being able to integrate into a department and a whole unit. You are a team player who is focused on helping and contributing to the team, the department and the house, so that we ensure everyone reaches their goals. We expect you to take co-responsibility for a good atmosphere and well-being at the workplace, have the courage to contribute with your professional expertise and good ideas and are focused on keeping the professional and methodological development going together.

We offer

  • a well-planned introduction program and a mentor during the first three months – you will receive thorough training with good professional sparring with colleagues
  • an engaged and present leadership
  • a professionally strong team with good internal collaboration, a safe collegial community and a high degree of influence and shared responsibility
  • a cross-disciplinary department that besides the advisory team also consists of a school social worker team, a day care social worker team, an administrative team and a team that handles case processing in relation to handicap compensating benefits as well as two department heads and an authority leader
  • regular supervision
  • canteen arrangement
  • possibility of remote work

We have in many ways a unique social cohesion. You will have plenty of opportunities for lots of fun and informal chats with your colleagues – whether it's over lunch in our canteen, at one of our professional events or the joint events organized by our staff association.
