About Special Center, Bøge Allé 11 & 16

Special Center is a specialized children's/youth home for children/youth aged 0-25 with social-cognitive developmental disorders, located in a picturesque area surrounded by nostalgic buildings.

We house the children who face some of the most complex issues in life. They are mobile children who primarily have a combination of low cognition and diagnoses such as autism, ADHD or other psychiatric diagnoses. Many have also experienced neglect and therefore have attachment disorders and/or trauma.

To support the children's needs as best as possible, we work with an individually tailored pedagogical approach. This means that we always start from the individual’s needs, including their developmental level, well-being, daily form, etc. We adapt our methods, structure and framework so that they make sense for the individual child, so that everyday life becomes manageable, predictable and safe.

We work purposefully with visual support, clear structure, fixed frameworks and recognizable routines to help each child navigate their surroundings and create calm and overview. At the same time we place a high value on relationships and invest a great deal of time in building trust, security and stable interaction.

At both departments the children display outward-/self-harming behavior on a daily/weekly basis when their mental balance is challenged. Therefore it is crucial that you are robust, can remain calm and able to create overview even when situations become intense and the waves rise. You must also be able to act professionally in a highly conflict-laden “danger zone” and be able to support the child through the situations.

As a pedagogue with us it is essential that you can work independently and take responsibility for the tasks you have during your shift. All our children have extensive support needs where you as an employee will be in a 1:1 relationship with the individual child on the given day. This means you must thrive working independently, be able to make professionally justified decisions and be comfortable with lone work when the situation requires it.

As an employee at Special Center it is essential that you have a positive outlook and a respectful and caring view of people. You must be skilled at building sustainable relationships with the children who live on the unit.

We attach great importance to knowledge/experience with the target group, as our children are deeply dependent on adults around them who can understand, accommodate and respond to their special needs.

The staff work in a structured manner and follow the agreements, action and development plans laid out for the individual child. At the same time it is important to be flexible and creative in task solving, as the children need adults who can adapt when necessary.

Salary and employment terms

About the position

• Position scope : 37 hours per week, but the desired hours can be accommodated.
• Start date : December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. There is also an possibility to start as soon as possible.
• Place of employment : Special Center, Bøge Allé 11 & 16, 6760 Ribe.
• Positions sought : 3-4 pedagogues.

working hours alternate between day and evening shifts as well as on-call shifts 14-14 and work every 2nd weekend.

Salary and employment terms are determined according to the applicable collective agreement, including the applicable provisions on local salary formation.
