About the job

Do you want to make a concrete difference for veterans and their families? Are you good at building trust, coordinating efforts and bridging across organizations?

Then you may be our new veteran coordinator.

Haderslev Municipality has over the years built a strong and recognized veteran effort. As a veteran coordinator you will take on a central role in ensuring that veterans and their families meet accessible, coherent and professional support.

About the position

As a veteran coordinator you are the municipality's ongoing point of contact on the veteran area. You advise veterans and their families, coordinate support across subject areas and develop cooperation with among others the Veterans Centre, the Armed Forces and civil society. The position requires both the ability to support complex citizen pathways and the ability to work independently and strategically with development, collaboration and representation of the municipality in the veteran area.

You will report to the head of the Secretariat in the Labour Market and Citizen Service. Your work is based on Haderslev Municipality's veteran and next-of-kin strategy, which has been adopted by the Employment and Citizen Service Committee.

Your tasks

Your main tasks are to

  • engage in dialogue with veterans and their next of kin in the municipality, provide advice and support, and be a visible and accessible entry point to the municipality for veterans and their families
  • support knowledge about veterans as a target group in the municipality to promote understanding and good communication
  • coordinate coherent pathways for veterans and their families across municipal departments, the Veterans Centre and civil society
  • advise and help individuals gain an overview of offers and opportunities
  • strengthen the visibility and recognition of veterans, including through the municipality's flag day events
  • contribute strategically to the continued development of the municipality's veteran effort.

We place value on you

  • having solid professional knowledge of the veteran area
  • having experience from a municipal welfare area and/or experience with advising people in vulnerable or complex life situations
  • being a skilled communicator both internally and externally
  • following initiatives through and creating progress in tasks involving several partners
  • meeting people with respect and patience, building trust, even when conversations concern difficult or complex issues, and having the necessary competencies to support veterans and their next of kin in the challenges and reactions that can arise as a result of deployment
  • having experience with development and project work
  • having good organizational and strategic insight and the ability to operate at all levels in a politically led organization.

We offer

  • a varied and meaningful job with great influence on everyday life, where you make a real difference for veterans and their families
  • great autonomy and an opportunity to shape the continued development of the veteran effort
  • clear political support for the area
  • a broad collaborative platform in the municipality and with external actors
  • flexibility in planning the work.

Haderslev Municipality stands on a value-based foundation, which sets the direction for our common conduct. Here you can read more about Haderslev Municipality's organizational framework and the municipality's veteran and next-of-kin strategy .
