About the job

We are seeking pedagogues, social- and health care assistants, other social- and health professional educated staff or staff with target group experience, for Gennem Bakkerne 23 A and B.

How do we create a daily life with security, development and quality of life for people with autism and complex support needs? We do it through professionalism, presence, clarity and relationships – and by being curious about the individual.

At Gennem Bakkerne you will become part of a specialized residential care facility where your professionalism makes a difference every day. Here we work with people who have different prerequisites, resources and support needs. It requires that we can see beyond the behavior, understand the individual person’s perspective and adapt our efforts so that they make sense for the individual.

We are looking for you who want to use your professional knowledge or experience and be part of a professional community where we jointly develop the quality of our work.

A daily life with meaning and professional challenges

The 32 residents on the property have varying cognitive, communicative and physical support needs. Therefore there is not one solution that fits everyone. We must understand the individual resident and adapt our communication, structure and support so that the work starts from the resident’s needs and prerequisites.

The daily life at Gennem Bakkerne is diverse. You may work with personal care, health-care tasks, practical chores, communication, activities and documentation. At the same time, the pedagogical work is a central part of our effort.

We work to create structure and predictability, support residents’ communication and promote well-being. We observe, reflect and adjust our approach when the resident’s needs change. This requires professional judgments, patience and the ability to collaborate – even when a situation does not develop as expected. In our work there can be outwardly aggressive behavior, and therefore we place great emphasis on professionalism, collegial support and safe frameworks for staff.

You will have the opportunity to work independently within shared professional frameworks and help translate goals and plans into an effort that works in practice.

We work with recovery-oriented rehabilitation (ROR), LA2u, sensory processing and autism-specific approaches. We use our professional skills to understand residents’ reactions, promote well-being and support their opportunities for development, relationships and quality of life.

We are focused on developing a shared professional practice, where we learn from each other, reflect on our actions and work systematically with documentation. We do not expect you to know it all in advance. Instead we expect you to be curious, engaged and eager to develop your professionalism together with us.

You will become part of a professional community

At Gennem Bakkerne we work across disciplines. We need both pedagogical perspectives and health-care competencies because residents’ needs often call for multiple professional approaches.

We want a workplace where we help each other, share our knowledge and dare to question our own and each other’s practice. Where there is room for professional disagreement, reflection and humor – and where we take joint responsibility for the task.

You will have the opportunity to contribute with your experiences and ideas and help influence how we solve the tasks. We are in the process of strengthening our shared professional foundation, and we view staff engagement and perspectives as an important part of this development.

We ensure you get a good start

It is important to us that you are well prepared for the task. Therefore we have an onboarding program and offer training shifts with experienced colleagues so you have the opportunity to get to know the residents, colleagues and our professional approaches.

You will become part of a professional environment with fixed supervisions, professional meetings and team meetings.

We also prioritize professional development through courses in autism, LA2u, recovery-oriented rehabilitation, sensory processing and health-care documentation. We want you to feel secure in the task and have the opportunity to develop professionally.

A hands-on leadership with a focus on everyday life

At Gennem Bakkerne you meet a leadership close to everyday life and interested in both residents’ well-being and staff’s work life.

We prioritize professional sparring, clear direction and dialogue about daily practice. We believe high professionalism is developed in a community, and that staff experiences, reflections and ideas are important to create quality in residents’ lives.

We work purposefully to develop a common professional practice that starts from residents’ individual needs and at the same time meets the professional expectations and frameworks that apply to our offering.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Have a pedagogical or other relevant social- or health-care education, e.g. as a pedagogue, social pedagogue or social- and health-care assistant, or relevant experience with the target group.
  • Are interested in the autism field and want to work with people with complex support needs.
  • Can work in a structured way and at the same time adapt your approach to the individual person.
  • Are curious about your own professionalism and can reflect on your actions.
  • Can work independently and take responsibility within shared agreements and professional frameworks.
  • Appreciate collaboration, sparring and knowledge sharing with colleagues and management.
  • Want to contribute to the development of our shared practice.
