About the job

The Outreach Unit of the Return Agency is looking for a new colleague who will help strengthen the proactive return work for foreigners without legal residence in Denmark.

Welcome to the Outreach Unit

The Outreach Unit conducts return interviews with residents at the departure center, and you will, through open dialogue and ongoing return guidance, help motivate foreigners without legal residence to voluntary return, in close collaboration with relevant actors.

You will also help ensure that foreigners without legal residence at the country’s departure centers are guided about their options regarding voluntary return, and advise on the consequences of not participating in return.

You will also contribute to the unit's other tasks, such as drafting responses to parliamentary questions, preparing case file inputs, and notes on practice.

Your tasks

You will have daily contact with foreigners at the departure center, and the day-to-day will bring changing tasks and professional challenges in handling the core task. You will thus have an exciting societal role in a demanding everyday life, where human contact is central.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • participate in daily operations as part of the Outreach Unit at Avnstrup Departure Center
  • motivate foreigners without legal residence in Denmark to participate in their return through return guidance
  • decide whether residents cooperate with their removal under the provisions of the Return Law
  • hold regular motivational conversations with residents at the departure center
  • receive personal inquiries at the Return Agency's Open Advisory Service, which is physically located at the departure center, where residents can address questions
  • participate in the team’s duty rosters, including ensuring presence at the center and assist with shifts at Copenhagen Airport
  • maintain ongoing contact with the unit's partners – national and international

You will also have the opportunity to plan and take part in deployments to third countries, just as you will have the opportunity to engage in cross-disciplinary projects within the Ministry of Immigration and Integration’s area.

About you

You have a relevant academic education, and we would like you to have experience with case processing, answering parliamentary questions and project work. Knowledge of and experience with the immigration area is an advantage.

In addition, we imagine that you

  • are professionally capable and engaged in your work – you have an eye for detail, but can also see the whole
  • are trustful and good at individual conversation processes
  • have strong social and communication skills
  • have good collaboration skills, as you will be part of a team with a multidisciplinary background
  • can work independently with your own portfolio of cases and maintain an overview during busy periods
  • see the importance of physical presence and actively contribute to the daily life at the office

It is important to us that you see solutions rather than limitations, and that you are able to think in individual processes and new opportunities.

We can offer you

As our new employee in the Outreach Unit you will have the opportunity to strengthen your professional and, not least, personal competencies in a unique workplace.

The Outreach Unit is divided into three teams, covering the departure centers located at different places in the country, and we total 23 employees. At Avnstrup Departure Center you will become part of a team of eight committed and skilled colleagues with a wide range of educational backgrounds.

We as a unit focus on creating good conditions for well-being and maintaining a good working environment and a collegial community. We emphasize knowledge sharing, professional sparring and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We offer flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work by agreement.

As part of your training you will be attached to an onboarding program. The training will primarily take place at Avnstrup, but also at our head office in Birkerød north of Copenhagen.

The Outreach Unit is part of the Return Agency, about which you can read more here.
