About the job

We are seeking a teacher who would like to teach our reception class children in basic Danish. You will become the teacher for a class in the middle school (grades 3-5). At the same time you will be part of a middle school team where teachers and pedagogues collaborate to strengthen all children's participation with Project-Based Learning as the common framework around the teaching. You will also be attached to the school's team of teachers in basic Danish, where you collaborate on developing our approach to working with reception children.

At Skolen på Grundtvigsvej we believe that reception children benefit from being part of a community where they are enrolled from the start in a home group/class. At the same time, the reception children have a particular need for intensive instruction in basic Danish. This takes place in small groups of a maximum of 7 children for 10-12 hours per week. The rest of the time the children join the common instruction in PBL courses in an age-mixed department with three year-group-based home groups in years 3, 4 and 5.

We work with the school as a community where everyone belongs and everyone has something to contribute. We create this in a committed team collaboration based on the motto 'Shared children – shared responsibility'. In the middle school the team is responsible for three year-group-based home groups (classes), including the reception children. The teaching takes place in an interplay between age-mixed classes and year-group based classes.

As reception teacher your focus is on the specially designed language teaching programs for the reception children. At the same time your task is to support the reception children's participation opportunities into the common PBL programs, which are planned in close cooperation with your team. In the team you must be able to work independently and lead, and at other times follow and implement others' ideas. You have a wish that your professional skills are put to use, challenged and developed in a professional learning community in the team and across the school.

In the current timetable there are, besides basic Danish, also DSA hours and an English class in our 8th year.

In addition to being a qualified teacher we expect that you

  • Can see the idea that reception children are part of the community throughout the school
  • Have relevant experience and education regarding working with basic Danish/DSA - or are willing to develop your teaching competences in basic Danish
  • Are willing to think basic Danish teaching into Project-Based Learning as a common pedagogical and didactic framework.
  • Thrive in equal teamwork between teachers and pedagogues
  • Desire to actively participate in the development of the school's learning environment

We can offer

  • A strong and fun collegial community in the team and at the school as a whole.
  • A school with a strong community between children and adults
  • A common footing in the work with Project-Based Learning that gives meaning and motivation
  • A well-functioning collaboration between staff and management with focus on inclusion and participation
