About the job

At the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans we are looking for you who want co-responsibility for leadership, operation and development of the cognitive milieu therapy and the nursing in the ward.

You will be part of Denmark's leading department for dual diagnosis treatment, and you will have your daily presence in scenic surroundings by Roskilde Fjord and Boserup Forest.

Welcome to Ward M20

You will be assistant ward manager in Ward M20 West, where we work with treatment and care of patients with dual diagnosis. We work from a cognitive-behavioral therapy framework and thus emphasize an equal partnership with the patient and offer a multidisciplinary approach depending on the patient's individual needs.

The patients are voluntarily admitted and are motivated for treatment. Treatment courses are about 3 months in duration. The patient course is described and recently revised. As part of the treatment most patients are on home leave on weekends

M20 is an integrated ward with space for 25 patients. We use minimal coercion and work intensively with de-escalation. The ward is divided into 2 teams, and you will spend your daily life on the west, where there are 13 patients. In the east there is a colleague in the same position as you, and you have a close daily collaboration with the head nurse, the senior physician and the clinical nursing specialist.

You will be part of a staff group that has an ambitious, busy, structured and at the same time cheerful everyday life. We actively and continuously work for a good working environment and take pride in being helpful, flexible, curious and engaged. We hold regular staff meetings and have two annual theme days.

Your role

You must be a role model in the ward for a multidisciplinary, engaged and sociable staff group consisting of both experienced and newly employed, who are good at supporting each other.

In the role, in addition to the staff group, you will collaborate with patients, relatives, the other staff at the center, the hospital's other psychiatric centers and external partners.

Your areas of responsibility

In collaboration with the head nurse you will handle the managerial, coordinating and pedagogical functions associated with the daily work in the ward.

In collaboration with the head nurse you will have many tasks, but the primary ones will be to:

  • participate in the ward's care and treatment. Be the contact person for 3-4 patients
  • create frameworks for good learning opportunities for employees and trainees
  • implement educational and development tasks in the ward
  • take on the head nurse's functions in their absence, including the emergency duty scheduling
  • ensure that the work planning ensures that staff have the right competencies for the nursing tasks
  • prioritize and delegate tasks and participate in huddle/board meetings and initiate improvement work.
  • after training, conduct group therapy and psychoeducation
  • maintain a good working environment

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone who can support good wellbeing and communication in the ward as well as the ability to initiate and motivate the individual staff member as well as the entire ward. In addition, you are a licensed nurse.

We also would like you to

  • focus on maintaining and further developing the professional approach and effort in the ward
  • be able to maintain calm and an overview
  • be proactive and maintain motivation – you are in this regard clear about expectations, follow up, evaluate and give feedback
  • be willing to ongoing professional and personal development
  • has an appreciative and respectful approach to colleagues and patients

Why should you apply for a job with us?

In this position you will have the opportunity to learn the craft of leadership – you will have ample opportunity to develop your leadership skills and your leadership toolbox. Depending on your prerequisites and experience you will receive supervision and support from your chief nurse.

You will become an active partner in the leadership room and participate in regular meetings with the ward management, another assistant ward manager and the clinical nursing specialist.

You will be based at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans in Roskilde with a beautiful setting overlooking Roskilde Fjord. We have a strong focus on the environment's significance for activity and we use our outdoor areas and the surrounding community as much as possible.

You are part of the ERFA group with the other assistant ward managers in Department M and at the entire center.

Salary and employment terms

The position can be taken up on December 1, 2026 or by agreement.

In connection with the summer or other special situations a weekend shift is to be expected a couple of times a year. In addition, evening shifts can be expected regularly. You will also need to participate in the duty burden on public holidays.

Salary and employment terms follow the collective agreement for non-managing staff in the Health Cartel area entered into by the parties of Sundhedskartellet, including the Danish Nurses Association and RLTN, with salary placement as a nurse.

The round-the-clock ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with a mix of shifts in accordance with the rules of the current working time agreement.

You will report to the head nurse of the ward.

There is mandatory vacation in weeks 29 and 30 as the ward switches to day hospital status during these weeks.
