About the job

Do you want to lead IT projects and help make a difference for society and business? Are you an experienced project manager who can create momentum and an overview in complex projects in an exciting stakeholder and system landscape? And are you motivated to translate complex problems into solutions and results? Then you should apply for the position as a project manager in the Customs area.

The Development and Simplification Agency (UFST) operates and develops IT solutions in collaboration with the other agencies under the Ministry of Taxation and Growth. In the Customs area we are responsible for a number of societally critical systems that support the Tax Administration and Danish business.

The Customs Office works focused on supporting business processes for the Tax Administration and therefore focuses on achieving realization of benefits, including through increased automation, data-driven risk management and simpler processes for both companies and authorities.

As part of the extensive modernization of the EU customs area, we help shape the future digital customs solutions, where common data platforms, new technologies and strong cross-EU collaboration should contribute to more efficient controls, better service and higher quality in the free movement of goods. It places high demands on our ability to translate complex needs into value-creating solutions, and as a project manager you will help make a difference.

You will be responsible for delivering complex projects safely to completion

We are looking for an experienced project manager who can take independent responsibility for projects from initial analyses and clarifications to implementation and handover to operations.

As a project manager in the office, your main task is to create direction, structure and momentum in projects that cross disciplines, customs-related areas and organisations. You will work in a complex system landscape with both technical and organizational dependencies. Some of the most central stakeholders are the Tax Administration, system suppliers and other parts of the Tax Administration. This places great demands on your ability to collaborate across disciplines and you must have a sharp eye for users' needs and create/maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

You thrive in an exciting everyday life - at the intersection of people, law, business and technology and are able to bring together different interests around common goals. With an understanding of both end-users' daily lives and the strategic considerations behind the solutions, you build trust and develop strong relationships with partners at all levels. You ensure that users' needs are understood and translated into effective solutions, while professionally managing the projects and creating momentum in complex decision-making processes.

Experienced project manager with overview and impact

You have a relevant educational background, e.g. in IT, social sciences, economics or similar, combined with solid practical experience in project management.

You preferably have experience with IT development and digitalization and are used to working in organizations with many stakeholders and various professional and organizational considerations. Experience from the state or another politically governed organization is an advantage but not a requirement.

To be successful in the role we especially emphasize that you

  • work in a structured and analytical way and can create an overview in complex problems
  • have impact and take responsibility for moving projects forward
  • are a strong communicator who can convey complex issues clearly and purposefully
  • can navigate safely between different stakeholders and build relationships across disciplines and organizations
  • are able to challenge, prioritise and follow up, while maintaining good collaboration
  • can keep an overview when the pace is high and multiple considerations must be balanced
  • have experience with both classic and agile project and development methods.

A strong professional environment with the opportunity to make your mark

With us you will have the opportunity to use your project management experience in projects with great societal-critical complexity.

You collaborate with business, IT specialists, analysts and suppliers and play a central role in creating coherence between professional needs, technical possibilities, the project's deliverables and the benefits the solutions are to create for the Tax Administration and business.

We place emphasis on professional sparring and knowledge sharing. You will therefore not be alone with the challenging issues, but will also have the freedom and responsibility to drive your own projects and put your professional mark on the way we work with project management.

Your new workplace?

Across the entire Customs area we value high professionalism, collaboration and a healthy working environment. You will become part of the Customs Business Office with 26 engaged employees with different educational backgrounds and professional backgrounds, from system owners and testers to project managers and domain experts. It gives us a broad professional environment where we learn from each other and actively use our different perspectives in problem solving.

We work with operation and development of societally critical customs systems, and you will have the opportunity to contribute actively and make your mark on our work. At the same time, we place importance on a good balance between work and private life, respect for each other’s time and room for both professional depth and flexibility in everyday life.

At the Development and Simplification Agency we also have, among other things, a staff association, a gym, Friday bar and social events as well as free parking. The workplace is located close to Flintholm Station.
