About the job

Do you want to lead skilled employees, ensure high professional quality and develop operations in a complex tax-related area?

We are seeking a Functional Manager who can set the direction for daily task execution, create results through the team, and actively contribute to the development of our professional area. You will become part of an engaged management group where we spar with each other, share responsibility, and work to create the best solutions.

If you are motivated by the combination of people management, professional development and secure operations, you may be our new Functional Manager for the FI 4 unit in Næstved.

About us

The FI 4 unit is an established operational unit within the Wealth and Investments Division in the Danish Tax Agency. Together with our sister unit in Struer, we play a significant role in solving tasks across the estate area.

We handle cases concerning former employees, business owners and major shareholders and work closely with probate courts, trustees, lawyers, auditors, advisers and heirs to ensure correct and consistent case handling nationwide.

Wealth and Investments is one of six specialized departments within the Personal Tax area of the Tax Agency and consists of approximately 170 employees distributed across five addresses in Denmark. The department’s tasks concern wealth and investment issues, including taxation of crypto assets, information on foreign investments, estates, gifts, securities and money transfer information.

You will become part of an ambitious management team where we prioritise professional and managerial sparring, collaboration and shared responsibility. We have a relaxed working environment where trust, openness and a delegating leadership style are central values.

About the position

As Functional Manager you will have the daily management responsibility for a unit with 18 professionally strong employees. Your most important task will be to create the framework for employees to succeed in their tasks, and for the unit to deliver results of high quality and efficiency.

You must create direction and an overview in a day-to-day that balances professional considerations, production and prioritization. At the same time you must ensure that legislation, practice and political decisions are translated into smooth operations.

You will play a central role in the ongoing development of both the employees and the task solution. This requires you to follow up on results and progress, prioritise resources and create a shared understanding of what is most important – without losing sight of quality and well-being.

You will become part of the management group in the People area and actively contribute to the overall development of the area. This entails close cooperation with the other leaders and relevant partners across the Tax Administration.

Your employees handle a variety of estate-related tasks, including administrative tasks, probate court issues, valuation of estate assets and liabilities, and taxation of the estate’s income.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • provide direction and be a present leader, sparring partner and driving force for the team
  • ensure high professional quality, consistency and progress in case processing
  • plan and prioritise tasks and resources to meet deadlines and targets
  • follow up on operations, production and results and translate follow-up into concrete actions
  • support employees’ professional development, engagement and well-being
  • actively contribute to the management team’s shared responsibility for the unit’s overall task solution
  • develop collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

About you

We are seeking a leader who can combine clear people management with professional understanding and secure operations management.

You are present and trust-building in your leadership. You know how to set a clear direction, gain followers and give employees responsibility and the opportunity to develop. At the same time you are clear in your priorities and follow up when tasks and goals require it.

You thrive in a broad leadership role where you must handle everyday concrete issues while keeping an overview of long-term goals. You can translate strategies and decisions into action and create coherence between professional quality, efficient operations and employees’ well-being.

We imagine that you

  • have experience with leadership or have competencies and motivation to take the next step into a leadership role
  • have a relevant educational or professional background
  • have a good professional understanding and preferably knowledge of the tax area, auditing, law or related areas
  • work in a structured way with planning, prioritization and follow-up
  • communicate clearly and build good relationships and collaboration
  • actively contribute to the community in the leadership group and take joint responsibility for the whole

Knowledge of the tax-related matters in the personal, business, major shareholder and estate area would be an advantage, but the right leadership profile and the ability to achieve results through others are also crucial.

We offer

With us you get a versatile leadership position with the opportunity to influence both daily operations and professional development.

You will become part of a professionally strong environment with dedicated staff and leadership colleagues who prioritise collaboration and sparring. You will have a varied workday with complex issues, good possibilities for professional and personal development and the opportunity to make a noticeable difference for both the employees and the task solution.
