About the job

The central financial function at the Technical Faculty (TEK) at SDU plays an important role in supporting the faculty's activities and development. We are seeking a head of TEK Economics who can set a direction, develop professional quality and at the same time create a strong community where employees' competencies come into play.

The Technical Faculty educates engineers and works with some of the most central agendas of our time, including technology, robots, drones, digitalisation and green transition. The financial area plays an important role in securing an overview and the basis for realising the faculty's strategic ambitions.

About the position

At TEK Economics we support the faculty management, institutes and administrative units with financial management, budgeting, controlling, procurement and project economics. The department plays an important role in ensuring a solid economic decision-making basis and actively contributes to the faculty's development and strategic goals.

As department head you will have the daily management responsibility for a department with 24 employees and become part of the management team in Faculty Administration. You report to the secretary-general and will collaborate closely with the other department heads at TEK.

Management with a view to professionalism and the whole

As department head you will be responsible for both personnel and professional leadership of the department's staff. You create clarity about direction, tasks and priorities while supporting good collaboration and knowledge sharing within the department.

You will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations, high quality and coherence in the work and for continuously developing processes, workflows and services, including with a strong focus on how AI, digitalisation and automation can contribute to effective task execution of high quality. You also support the dean's office, institute directors and other leaders with financial analyses and decision basis.

You will furthermore contribute to cross-cutting development and good collaboration with colleagues and leaders across the faculty and the university. You will securely engage in cross-cutting contexts, and especially work well with the central financial function. In particular, it will be relevant that you can operate and act professionally robust in financial processes with senior leadership at both the faculty and SDU.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant higher education degree and experience with both leadership and professional insight within the financial area.

We especially emphasise that you

  • Have experience leading staff, preferably in specialized professional environments
  • Can create buy-in and development through inclusive leadership
  • Have in-depth knowledge of financial management, budgeting and controlling in complex organisations
  • Can translate financial analyses into decision-relevant management information
  • Thrive in collaboration across disciplines and organisational units
  • Are curious about the possibilities of AI

We offer

A central leadership position with great visibility and significance for the faculty's operations and development. You will have skilled and engaged colleagues in a strong professional environment with a focus on cross-cutting collaboration.

In the Faculty Administration you will be part of a leadership team that values and prioritises collaboration across and finds value in using each other for mutual sparring on both tasks and leadership.

With the position there are opportunities to influence the continued development of TEK's financial function, and not least good possibilities for professional and leadership development.
