About the job

You can expect an exciting day of work in a department in great development. Here you are close to decision-making processes and have influence over daily tasks.

Your professional expertise will be particularly used when you participate in consultant trips to Greenland's other towns, where you examine and treat patients locally at the district hospitals.

Together with the other senior physicians you also go on-call within your own specialty.

The surgical area, which includes gynecology/obstetrics, has training positions in collaboration with Region of Southern Denmark within general medicine and the departments' specialties. In gynecology/obstetrics there are thus both physicians in main specialty training and internship positions, and medical students from Aarhus University.

We offer

A consultant physician position in an exciting and dynamic department where the patient is the focus, where professional quality and education are given high priority, where;

  • Interdisciplinarity is given particular focus
  • Good collaborative relations internally and externally are highly valued
  • The employees are engaged and have high professional competence
  • This is a full-time position

Depending on interests and competencies, there may also be an opportunity to become the educationally responsible senior physician.

We are looking for you who

  • Is a specialist with broad gynecological/obstetric training. This is however not a requirement
  • Preferably has subspecialization within obstetric or gynecological subspecialties
  • Is proactive, communicative and has a motivating approach to work
  • Is interested in and has experience within the education/training area

About us

The obstetric department handles about 600 births annually, including deliveries from Nuuk, as well as all high-risk births from the coastal towns. The department is the only birthplace in Greenland with obstetric specialty coverage. The obstetric outpatient clinic has about 400 annual consultations, including fetal medicine consultations with amniocenteses.

The gynecological department performs about 500 operations annually. In addition, 200-300 operations at the coastal hospitals. The operating department in Nuuk has been newly built with state-of-the-art equipment. Primarily general and uro-gynecological operations are performed. It is not expected that the applicant masters all operations. Furthermore, the department handles the primary investigation/treatment within gynecologic oncology and infertility treatment.

The gynecological outpatient clinic consists of about 500 specialist consultations and about 500 supervised resident doctor consultations

For the surgical area there are ten trainee doctors attached in a 24/7 on-call arrangement.

The surgical area is a general surgical department, consisting of a visceral (parenchymal) surgery section, an otologic, an orthopedic surgical and a gynecologic/obstetric department with a total of 11 specialists (three surgeons, two otologists, three orthopedic surgeons and three gynecologists).

Respect, trust, care and professionalism are the healthcare system's shared values. You will meet professionally skilled and passionate colleagues who focus on the good patient journey and make things succeed.
