At Slagelse Libraries we are looking for a department head who, by thinking strategically and data-oriented, can create direction for our communications efforts, develop our digital and technical support, and ensure that our collections, workflows, and physical libraries and culture house support the needs citizens have today and will have tomorrow.

Your main tasks will be

• To be a dedicated people manager for Team Material Flow, Team Culture House and Team Communications, thereby taking responsibility for development of both operations and projects
• Development and implementation of Culture and Library area’s communication plans and channel strategy through the leadership of the events and communications coordinator
• Responsible for developing workflows and operating concepts at the libraries in Slagelse, Korsør and Skælskør as well as the work with the seven library points
• To ensure that the library's systems best support employees and citizens
• To translate strategy into concrete results and create frameworks for data-driven leadership and decisions in close cooperation with the leadership team and the coordinator group

• analytical acumen, interest in data, systems and effective communication

• authenticity that can create following among employees with quite diverse professional backgrounds

You should have an eye for the user journey both physically and digitally. We have 16 locations, all of which must attract the target audience in expression and format. Hundreds of cultural offerings across culture houses, libraries and archives, requiring sharp marketing.

We imagine that you know the library world and are comfortable talking about Cicero and beacons, get excited about sorting facilities, and look forward to seeing what Korsør Development Plan ends up with. You have a longer higher education and experience in working with the library, communications or cultural sector.

You will become part of the leadership team under the head of Culture and Libraries, Tue Frøsig Fabricius, and will work closely with the department head for Reading Enthusiasm and Experiences on the overall development of the libraries. The leadership team also holds the management responsibility for Korsør Culture House, culture house experiments, Slagelse Archives’ culture department and a number of events.

Practical information

Slagelse Libraries consist of three libraries: Slagelse Library, Korsør Library and Skælskør Library, as well as library points distributed in the municipality. A driving licence is required, and there may be travel between the libraries and other partners.

As a department head you will participate in library duty on every 5th Saturday and ad hoc as needed on weekdays.

The position is to be filled from 1 January 2027.

Slagelse Libraries is part of the Center for Culture, Leisure and Citizen Service in Slagelse Municipality.

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the collective agreement.
