About the job

Are you passionate about working with children? Do you thrive in an independent daily routine with the "home work" where you plan the day’s program yourself? Are you at a point in life where it’s time to change direction? Or do you dream of staying at home with children and at the same time opening your home to other people’s children? Can you offer inspiring learning environments in your own home? Then you have the chance right now to obtain a rewarding and meaningful job as a day-care nanny!

Come and see – come and ask – meet a colleague. You are very welcome!

Due to an increased number of children and a retiring day-care nanny, we in Aarup are seeking a further 2 day-care nannies.

Employment will take effect as of December 1, 2026 and around January 1, 2027.

Your background You must reside in the town of Aarup, but your background is not decisive.

The most important thing is just that you

  • Are passionate about working with children aged 0-3 and meet them with a smile and a twinkle in the eye
  • Want to open your home every day for 3-5 children and their parents
  • Are positive, welcoming and acknowledging in interactions with others and have a heart for all people
  • Can stay calm and keep your heart warm if it gets busy
  • Are inspired by being your own department head and thus can plan based on the children’s needs and the day’s weather. No interruptions – you can perform your pedagogical work at eye level and with great presence
  • See the day-care job as both meaningful for the child and educational for yourself
  • Have a positive view of children and the belief that children always do the best they can

About the job The day-care is the child’s second home – and parents say: ”It is safe and nice to hand over your child to the same welcoming person every morning – then it’s no problem to get a good start at the job after parental leave!”

Day-care nannies say: ” As a day-care nanny, everyday life just gets better for my own children”, ”I love the independence that is possible”. Another point: ”Lots of laughter, hugs and small moments that matter. You give the children a safe start in life – and you get SO much back yourself ”.

You will receive 3-4 children every day in your own home from 6:00-17:00. In case of illness you may also have a guest child. Working hours are a maximum of 48 hours per week. It may sound like a lot, but in return you will get:

  • Travel time of 0 minutes – no wasted time on the road! Everyday starts and ends the moment the door opens and closes
  • Flexibility in breaks, when the children usually sleep naptime. You are in your own familiar surroundings and can drink a cup of hot coffee on the sofa, start a wash, or turn on dinner. This gives enormous freedom and reduces stress after work
  • You are at home when any schoolchildren come home. They are loved by the little ones

We value a good childhood highly. There should be room for the children’s individuality, initiative and development in safe child communities, and care and security in homely surroundings. Naturally with reference to the strengthened curriculum and the Daycare Act.

We prioritise that good child environments can be created both outdoors and indoors, and that there is room for tumble play and being comfortable. It means presence with the children and a good atmosphere around today’s activities, play and meals. Once a week you will be in full-day playroom at the children’s house Drømmebakken together with 2-3 colleagues.

As a day-care nanny you will join in cooperation and sparring with colleagues and the day-care pedagogue. The rest of the daycare staff and management are also always available for support, advice and sparring. So although everyday life is very independent, you are never alone.

You must have the ability to plan and structure your day and at the same time be able to participate in cooperation when you are in the playroom. The day-care pedagogue will come for 3 annual supervision and development visits in your home, as well as by agreement and need. In addition, the day-care pedagogue is regularly present in the playroom.

You will have the opportunity to participate in courses and pedagogical Saturday, and there will be evening meetings about 4 times a year.

We offer In your daily life as a day-care nanny you will experience

  • Time with fun, sweet, quirky, experimental children
  • An exciting and varied workday where you follow and support the little child’s development and big moments
  • Work focused on children’s well-being, development and learning
  • Responsibility for and great influence on your own workday
  • Support, courses and guidance from the day-care pedagogue and management

We help with relevant toys, a pram and parts of the inventory at start. There is the possibility of a couple of internship days with a colleague and in the playroom before you start receiving children.
