In Faxe Municipality we are expanding the effort and are therefore looking for yet another housing social worker who thrives with a varied daily life close to the residents who need to settle into a new everyday life in Faxe Municipality.

Your role in Integration

The position is located in the Department of Services and Administration in the Center for Employment. Here you will become part of a well-established integration team where daily life is changeable, and two days are rarely the same.

As a housing social worker you will have an office near the temporary refugee housing, and you will be responsible for helping residents with the problems that arise in connection with living and getting around in Denmark. It has the form of both individual counseling, conflict management and teaching.

In the work you collaborate with colleagues, volunteers and other relevant partners.

We are 3 housing social workers, and we work closely together and cover for each other in case of illness and holiday. We are part of an integration team, which in addition to the 3 housing social workers, consists of 2 case workers and 1 professional consultant where there is extensive cross-collaboration, e.g. in the reception of resettled refugees.

You therefore get a role with high variation, where you must be able to handle what needs to be solved here and now, and help the residents further when they need support and guidance.

Your tasks

Your tasks range from reception and inward/outward relocation to guidance of residents and conflict management and joint activities for the residents.

You will among other things

• Receive and accommodate new residents in the municipality's housing
• Prepare living rooms and common areas in connection with move-in and move-out
• Ensure that housing is handed over in proper condition and with intact furniture
• Convey house rules and common frameworks and follow up on, among other things, cleaning of common areas
• Support good neighborliness and community through dialogue, resident meetings and relevant activities
• Help residents with questions and guide them in contacting relevant services and authorities
• Introduce new residents to the local area, public transport, shopping opportunities and other aspects that affect their daily life in the municipality
• Collaborate with volunteers and support the implementation of activities
• Initiate education about relevant societal conditions
• Contribute to other administrative tasks in the integration effort across the team

The tasks will vary, and new needs may arise along the way. You must therefore be prepared for a workday where you continually assess and prioritize your tasks.

About you

You thrive being close to people who are in an unfamiliar life situation. It comes naturally to you to meet people respectfully and inclusively, and you can communicate clearly, even when different expectations, cultures and needs are at play.

Your specific educational background is not decisive. You may, for example, have a pedagogical, social‑work or other relevant experience.

We imagine that you

• Have experience with or interest in working with refugees and people from different cultural backgrounds
• Are good at making contact and trust, also across language and culture
• Can keep overview and prioritize tasks
• Have practical sense and are willing to take part in tasks around the housing yourself
• Cooperate well with different professional groups and partners
• Can use, or are willing to learn, relevant IT systems for documentation and journaling

Language skills that can support communication with the target group will be an advantage, but are not a prerequisite.

Practical information

The position is a permanent 37-hour week with expected start no later than January 1, 2027.
