About the job

Are you passionate about making a difference for veterans? Are you a strong relationship builder, and is integrity one of your core values?

We are seeking an outreach advisor who will work to find and support particularly vulnerable veterans with complex issues in North Jutland.

About us

The Veteran Centre treats, advises and supports veterans and their relatives, just as we support and collaborate with volunteers and municipal veteran actors.

You will become part of a workplace with highly qualified and specialized staff who are engaged and in a corporate culture where relationships, performance and room to grow are important.

In the Advisory and Rehabilitation Department, the advisors’ task is to guide and support soldiers, veterans and relatives on, among other things, social, educational and economic conditions after deployment. This includes helping veterans with mental and physical injuries to a better life. Our headquarters are in Ringsted, but all our advisers work at Defense service facilities around Denmark.

About the position

You will work with veterans and their relatives and be responsible for building and strengthening the individual veteran’s network and relationships.

You will be employed at the Veterans Centre Holstebro, with a primary working area in North Jutland. Here you will have a special focus on veterans, their relatives and partners, but you should also expect to participate in solving tasks across the rest of the country together with your outreach advisor colleagues.

The group of veterans that the outreach advisors contact often faces challenges such as homelessness, lack of means of support, substance abuse, loneliness and psychiatric diagnoses. They often live in isolation and have difficulty using services and opportunities in both private and professional networks.

You will concretely work with finding, approaching and supporting vulnerable veterans, which is why it is crucial that you have solid health and/or social work experience. In the section for outreach advisors, we have the important task of strengthening cooperation with municipalities and other actors around the veterans. Therefore you will hold cooperation meetings, training courses and presentations in municipalities and for other relevant actors about the target group and their issues.

In cooperation with the veteran, you will incorporate, expand and upgrade the veteran’s network. You will initiate holistic, sustainable solutions by involving networks in the form of relatives, public actors and voluntary efforts to ensure that work is directed toward enabling the veteran to master their own life going forward.

Task solving takes place in close interdisciplinary collaboration with the Veteran Centre’s other professional groups to ensure a holistic approach.

About you

You have education in the social or pedagogical field.

You have experience in facilitating, expanding and maintaining actor networks, for example voluntary associations, educational institutions, business, municipalities and regions.

You also have experience working relationally with people who have mental and/or social problems, as well as experience with outreach social work. It is a major advantage if you have knowledge of the municipal system and also preferably psychiatry, as well as knowledge of psychiatric issues.

You must be able to balance your work, work independently, structure and prioritise your tasks, as you will work quite a lot alone.

You find it exciting with a wide range of tasks. You thrive from day to day moving from a meeting with the veteran in a homeless environment to a collaboration meeting with the mayor in your area.

You are mentally strong and flexible regarding work hours and place of work.

In addition, we expect you to have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to conduct presentations for larger and smaller groups.

You must be prepared to participate in seminars and conferences, which sometimes require evening work and overnight stays away from home. You must have a valid driver’s license.

Employment terms

Depending on your educational background, you will be hired and paid according to the applicable collective agreement for state employees or on an individual contract.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating allowances. The position includes an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Holstebro.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence’s area, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout the employment relationship.

You have, as an employee, a duty to serve outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you have questions about the position, the head of the Outreach Advisory Section Camilla K. Sørensen at telephone 7216 3342.

If you have questions about salary and employment terms, you are welcome to contact Personnel Command, HR consultant Birgit Jepsen at telephone 3266 5811.

The application deadline is 10 November 2026, and we will conduct recruitment interviews on an ongoing basis in Holstebro. The position is available from 1 January 2027 or by agreement.

You apply for the position via the link and please attach your application, CV and copies of your education certificates. Please note that attachments must be added in PDF format.
