I am looking for a full-time permanent caregiver for a person with a disability – Fixed night shift in the ventilator team, Aalborg.

I am a 31-year-old man who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and therefore uses an electric wheelchair. I live in my own apartment in Vejgaard in Aalborg.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, watching films and series as well as going to Aalborg Stadion to watch AaB play football, as well as watching Pirates play ice hockey. I also enjoy going to the cinema, visiting family and friends and going to concerts.

In addition, I like to get away from home a bit and experience something new. This can for example be shorter trips abroad, stays in a holiday home or trips to festivals. Therefore it is important that you can see yourself joining such trips when it is relevant. The work can involve more than the daily routine at home, and I hope you would like to be part of these experiences.

As my caregiver you become an important part of my daily life. Therefore I hope to find a person who is caring, reliable, flexible and wants to contribute to making my everyday life work well – both at home and when I am out experiencing something.

I am seeking a permanent handicapped caregiver on a full-time basis for my ventilator team in Aalborg. The position is around 140-160 hours per month and is mainly a permanent night shift position with awake night shifts.

It is important to emphasize that I am looking for a caregiver who primarily wishes to work night shifts. There may be opportunities for day shifts when there is a need to cover due to illness and holidays among my other caregivers.

As I am a ventilator user and require monitoring around the clock, the shifts are 12 hours. The night shifts are awake, so you must be prepared to stay awake and be attentive throughout the shift.

The work takes place every day of the year, so you must be prepared to work on weekdays, weekends and holidays. It is important that you are flexible and can join a team where there must be staffing year-round. This is a shared responsibility in the team.

I am looking for a stable helper who wants to stay in the job for a longer period. For me it is important to have a good and fixed team, where we get to know each other, and where there is not too much turnover.

My requirements for you

• You are a non-smoker.
• You have a driving license (minimum category B).
• You are stable, responsible and flexible.
• You have a good mood and a positive approach to the work.
• You primarily want to work night shifts.
• You are prepared for the possibility of day shifts if needed due to illness or holidays.
• You can work on weekdays, weekends and holidays according to the duty roster.
• You want to become part of my team in the long term.

Tasks

The work includes, among other things, helping me with

• Personal care and other daily needs.
• Cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping.
• Driving to, for example, family, friends and various activities.
• Respiratory treatment and monitoring.

It is a requirement that you complete training in respiratory care before you can work independently as my caregiver.

My current caregivers will provide four training shifts before you get your own independent shifts. If you already have experience or education in respiratory care, that is an advantage, but it is not a requirement.

There will also be training in the use of ceiling lifts and other aids.

Start date: As soon as possible – I hire on an ongoing basis.
