Instructor for the carpentry education programs

Herningsholm Vocational School & Gymnasia

seeks a vocational teacher for the carpentry programs, who is passionate about teaching and educating future production assistants, machine carpenters, cabinetmakers and building carpenters. We are looking for an instructor responsible for teaching carpentry apprentices in our regular program and EUX programs. But bridging students, our own 10th grade students, GF1 students and the upcoming EPX education are at least as important a part of our work and a high-quality feeding pipeline to our programs.

At Herningsholm we want to make an impact with carpentry education. It is natural for the department to develop and contribute to an improvement of the teaching and the training itself, and we actively participate together with various industry stakeholders in the development of carpentry trades and expect all staff to contribute in different ways.

We have chosen to prioritise carpentry education in the form of a significant expansion of workshop facilities, an updated machinery package and new learning environments, which have now stood completed for a couple of years and bear the mark of a department that is both growing and where things are under control.

It is important that you enjoy working in a routine, dynamic and energetic environment with many different groups of students and diversity. And it is of great importance that you have a genuine interest in interacting with young people and not only teaching, but also contributing to their general education and personal development.

We expect that you

• are good at communicating with young people and have good written and verbal communication skills
• have a professional carpentry qualification and possibly an additional qualification as a production or design technologist, building technician or building designer
• have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience
• have good practical and theoretical experience
• preferably have experience with CNC. We use WoodWOP, Alfacam and B-solid in teaching
• have knowledge of 3D-CAD programs. We use Inventor in teaching
• are keen to challenge all students and apprentices – regardless of level.

If you have teaching experience, it is an advantage but not a requirement. It is a requirement that you are willing to take the Diploma in Vocational Pedagogy within the first 4 years of employment. The school pays for the education.

Start date, salary & terms of employment

Start date January 1, 2027.

The employment is full-time and governed by the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the negotiating organization.
