Introductory Physician for the Emergency Department, Esbjerg Hospital

Would you like to help further develop our acute care concept? We are seeking intern doctors in Acute Medicine Who are you? You are very curious about acute medicine, and are considering whether it could be a career path for you.

You want to take ownership of the department, and be an active player in how the Emergency Department in Esbjerg should develop cross-professionally for the acute patients in the coming years.

You are culture-bearing in terms of engagement and integrity, willing to wholeheartedly engage in our work with compassion as the basis for a psychologically safe working environment, with a high degree of autonomy and influence. You want to learn from your and my mistakes, so that we become even better at receiving acute patients.

You will become part of a cross-disciplinary collegium with strong commitment to the acute patient and the specialty of acute medicine.

About the department At the moment we have 15 specialty doctors, 11 junior doctors and 11 intern doctors in acute medicine. From May 2027 we will also receive AP doctors, who will be trained with us. We are 140 nurses/assistants and 19 medical secretaries. We are all ready to include you in our community.

We receive about 48,000 patients per year with mobile acute reception, wide reception areas, fast-track and the emergency department.

The shifts

Our working hours/shifts are as follows

• 08:00-18:00/17:45-08:30
• 08:00-16:00 - emergency department work

You should expect to have night shifts 4 times a month and work every 2nd weekend. At night there are two on-call shifts and a standby to receive on average 1.2 patients per hour, of which 1-2 acute calls per shift.

Education You will have a main training doctor as the main supervisor, but all doctors in the department take responsibility for mutual learning.

You will receive EMCC course and ultrasound training.

Medical qualifications: You have completed KBU.

Practical information We have the possibility to hire 3 intern doctors with start dates

• 1 December 2026 (1 intern doctor)
• 1 February 2027 (2 intern doctors)
• or start by agreement
