About the job

Note: animal welfare inspection is part of the Ministry of Justice's area. The position is announced and administered via the Danish Animal and Food Administration's recruitment system.

Do you want to help set the professional direction for the future animal welfare control?

The animal welfare inspection under the Ministry of Justice is seeking experienced profiles to help build and develop a new professional office. You will play a central role in ensuring a strong professional foundation for the control of animal welfare in Denmark and support the operational control.

The positions are for you who thrive at the intersection of professionalism, authority exercise and development, and who are motivated to work in an organization where the frameworks and ways of working are still being built. A background as a veterinarian or a master's in Animal Science is natural, and we also have very good experience combining this with other relevant professional profiles in both natural and social sciences. If you fit this and are passionate about animal welfare, there is currently a unique opportunity to contribute to our important work to strengthen the control.

About the job

In the Animal Welfare Control you will become an important professional sparring partner for the executing control and contribute to ensuring coherence between legislation, control practice and daily operations.

You will among other things

  • contribute to the professional development of the control and translate rules into concrete practice
  • advise and support the employees who perform control on veterinary- and control-professional questions
  • contribute to decisions about which controls should be conducted, including focusing on risks, animal species and prioritization of the effort
  • ensure that there is attention to the economic and financial frameworks for the control
  • collaborate with other authorities and relevant partners
  • contribute to ministerial service and professional presentations to different levels in the organization.

You also become part of the work to establish and develop new working methods in an organization undergoing change.

About you

We imagine that you

  • are a trained veterinarian, trained in Animal Science or have another relevant professional background within natural or social sciences
  • have experience with public authority work, preferably from veterinary control or another public control company
  • have a strong professional profile and can translate complex rules into concrete solutions
  • work proactively and take the initiative to develop new processes and working methods
  • thrive in an organization where not all frameworks are in place yet
  • have good collaboration skills and can build relationships across disciplines and organizations
  • communicate clearly and precisely both verbally and in writing
  • can convey professional messages to different target groups, from the executing control to management and the ministry

In addition, you are motivated by being involved in building something new and contributing to the development of an important societal task.

About us

The Animal Welfare Control under the Ministry of Justice is responsible for controlling animal welfare in Denmark. We are about 120 employees in total, and we need to become twice as many. We are thus an organization under change and building, where professionalism, collaboration and development go hand in hand.

In the professional office we work to create the professional foundation for the control and ensure that the controlling employees have the best prerequisites to solve their tasks. You will have good colleagues, a large influence on the tasks and the opportunity to influence the development of a new professional area.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment takes place according to the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of AC organizations – including the Danish Veterinary Association or other relevant organizations.

Depending on your qualifications there will be an opportunity for negotiation of allowances.

The positions are full-time with an average of 37 hours per week and with work site at Kalvebod Brygge 47, 1560 Copenhagen V. There may also be a possibility of a work site in Vejen.

The positions are desired to be filled January 1 or as soon as possible.

Application

Send your application, CV and relevant attachments via the recruitment system no later than 15 November 2026.
