About the job
Become our new colleague in the Ministry of Employment and Gender Equality's Office for Labor Rights and Law! Develop yourself legally and personally in a ministry with a socially important task.
Work with law where policy becomes reality In the Ministry's department we work closely with the minister and the rest of the leadership to translate political visions into solutions that matter for citizens and the labor market in Denmark.
Office for Labor Rights and Law (KAJ) is the department's central legal office and consists of two units, Labor Rights and Law.
The Labor Rights unit works with the development and regulation of labor and employment law in Denmark, including, among other things, legislative processes, implementation of EU law and the Danish labor market model.
The Law unit functions as the department's resident lawyers and advise the entire group on public-law issues, including administrative law, constitutional law and data protection law, criminal law as well as the interpretation of Denmark's international obligations, including under the European Convention on Human Rights, and the ministry's own legislation.
As a student you will be an integral part of the office and get a unique insight into the work in central administration. With us you get professional responsibility, close sparring with experienced lawyers and the opportunity to work with legal issues of great social importance.
About the position You will primarily be attached to the Law unit, but you may receive tasks across units. You will be responsible for your own tasks, of course with ongoing sparring from your colleagues. The tasks vary and require you to be independent and quickly understand new issues.
In the Law unit we work with classical public law disciplines and act as a sparring partner for the entire department. You will come to work with administrative law, constitutional law, data protection law, and get to know the ministry's own legislation.
Your tasks will vary and include, among other things
- concrete legal case handling, including preparation of decisions in your own access-to-information and complaint cases,
- advice to other offices in the building,
- preparation of legal notes, and
- assistance in organizing courses and lectures.
You will gain experience with concrete case handling and learn how legal assessments fit into a politically governed organization.
An academically strong and social office KAJ consists of 1 head of office, 2 deputy heads, 12 lawyers and 3 students, including you. We are a very social office which, in addition to focusing on delivering high-quality work, enjoys using energy to arrange events together and ensure a good working environment on a daily basis.
You will have kind and skilled colleagues with everything from 1 year to 25 years of experience in the office. There are therefore young talents to look up to and more experienced people to learn from. You will have colleagues who are always ready to provide professional sparring, both on difficult legal issues and the big political lines.
Are you our new colleague? We imagine that you
- are a law student.
- have a high professional level and can deliver high-quality products
- are curious, independent and responsible
- are proactive, helpful and good at collaborating
- are keen to learn
- communicate clearly orally and in writing.
It is an advantage for the position if you have studied subjects such as constitutional law and administrative law.
Salary and employment terms The position is a student position averaging 15 hours per week. We would like you to start on 15 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
We take into account that you must fit in with your studies and during exam periods, when study requires more of your time, there is flexibility.
You will be employed as a student under the OAO-S collective agreement, the organizational agreement for clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK) in the state service. It is a condition of employment that you are enrolled at a higher education institution and are an active student.
Your daily workplace is the Ministry of Employment and Gender Equality, Holmens Kanal 20, 1060 København K.
