About the job

Good decisions only make a difference when they become action. Do you want to help ensure that our ambitions for education become concrete improvements for students and staff at Denmark's Prisons?

We are seeking a management consultant who can create an overview, qualify decisions and stay the course until the initiatives work in practice. You will have a central role close to the management, where you combine sharp analyses and clear decision papers with collaboration and persistent follow-up. You will report directly to the Head of Education and Competence Development and will have an office in beautiful surroundings in Birkerød.

About us

Education and Competence Development - West Region (UKV) is responsible for recruitment and basic training of future prison guards, transport guards, security guards and cellmasters, as well as competence development of staff at Denmark's Prisons.

The basic training alternates between school and practical training. Teaching takes place at our three schools in Birkerød, Møgelkær and Storstrøm and at a number of pop-up schools around Denmark. We also handle education and development tasks in Greenland and Kosovo.

UKV is organizationally anchored in the Prison District West and works across the country in close collaboration with prisons, transport units, district offices and the Directorate for Denmark's Prisons.

We must ensure that Denmark's Prisons can recruit and educate employees with solid professional competence who are equipped to take on an important societal task. This requires coherence between recruitment, school and internship as well as good conditions for students' learning, well-being and attachment to the workplace.

About the job

You will be the manager's close partner in the work of prioritizing, preparing decisions and following up on cross-cutting initiatives. You also support the entire leadership team with analyses, decision notes and coordination.

A key task will be to consolidate and create momentum in the initiatives that are to strengthen students' attachment to the workplace and help more of them complete their education. We must, among other things, create better coherence between school and internship, strengthen guidance and ensure clear responsibility and systematic follow-up throughout the student journey. You, together with the responsible, will translate the initiatives into concrete actions and follow them all the way until they work in practice.

In close collaboration with the deputy heads and the subject leads, you will create an overall overview of UKV’s tasks and their connection with other initiatives. You will clarify responsibilities, deliverables and milestones and follow up on progress. When an initiative stalls, you should be able to identify the challenges and bring forward solutions and decisions to management.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Support the head and the management team with professional sparring, case preparation and follow-up on decisions.
  • Prepare recommendation notes, decision briefs and status notes with clear recommendations and description of consequences.
  • Create an overall overview of initiatives that will strengthen students' educational journey and attachment to the workplace, with clear responsibility, concrete deliverables and timelines.
  • Take on project and process management and be responsible for planning, coordinating and following implementation processes through to completion together with the professionals, schools, internship sites, HR and the directorate.
  • Support a more data-based management practice by systematically compiling and analyzing information including intake, dropout and completion.
  • Link data with knowledge from practice so that management gets a better basis for prioritizing initiatives and tracking their results.
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings and working processes as well as follow-up and take responsibility for turning agreements into concrete actions.

The tasks will develop in line with the organization's needs. You should therefore thrive with both longer development processes and current matters that require a quick and thorough response.

About you

You have a relevant academic master's degree and experience with executive support, project coordination or implementation in a larger organization. Experience from a politically led organization or the education sector is an advantage.

We especially emphasize that you

  • Can translate complex issues into short, usable recommendation notes.
  • Work in a structured manner and persistently follow up on agreements, deliverables and deadlines.
  • Have analytical sense and an interest in data and can assess data quality and make results understandable and usable for management.
  • Can drive processes forward with others, even when you do not have formal management responsibility.
  • Build good collaborative relationships while also daring to ask critical questions and draw attention to challenges.
  • Work independently and have the judgment to assess when a matter requires management's decision.

You do not need to know Denmark's Prisons beforehand. However, you should be curious about our mission and able to understand an organization where education, operations and security must work together.

We offer

You will obtain a role close to the management with the opportunity to influence how we create overview, make decisions and implement development in UKV.

You will become part of a professional environment with colleagues who work with recruitment, education and competence development. You will have a broad collaborative platform and the opportunity to follow your tasks from the first analysis to concrete changes in practice.
