About the job

Can you understand the core academic points of a research proposal and do you have a sharp pen to help researchers communicate this? Can you help ensure the application matches the core of a funding call? Can you thrive in a new department under establishment? Then we need you as a pre-award advisor for externally funded research projects.

About us

Research Funding Søndre was established on 1 March 2025 to support researchers from the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Theology.

You will become part of a dedicated team of 12 staff supporting researchers from the four faculties in the work of applying for national and international research grants. We help researchers identify relevant funding opportunities, develop competitive applications and manage larger, international grants.

We place emphasis on teamwork and high professional standards going hand in hand with an informal, open and respectful tone. Also in a busy everyday life.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • Advise researchers on relevant application opportunities, calls and application terms from Danish and European foundations – both private and public
  • Offer qualified support and well-founded generalist reading of applications
  • Coordinate application processes, including advising on application structure, formalities and the foundations' requirements
  • Contribute to data collection and management information
  • Active knowledge sharing with colleagues, including contributing to the development of workflows both within the department and across KU

Qualifications

You have a relevant academic background at least at master’s level. You have experience with or an interest in advising researchers on potential funding opportunities, as well as providing concrete support for applications for external funding. The ideal candidate is familiar with the funding landscape for especially Danish and European foundations and has experience with research support and external financing.

You can navigate a complex organization and find answers and solutions across your own department, campus, and across the university. It is important to us that you are good at building relationships as well as working independently and taking initiative and responsibility for the tasks.

We need a colleague who seeks a sense of community, who can both help develop and standardize our services and at the same time tailor the guidance to the individual applicant.

We expect that you

  • Can handle and complete several tasks in parallel, meet deadlines and maintain an overview in periods of high workload
  • Have strong analytical skills and can translate knowledge of the funding landscape into concrete and actionable advice
  • Can familiarise yourself with complex issues and approach tasks with a focus on finding solutions in a large, complex organization
  • Have good communication skills in English and Danish in writing and speaking and good intercultural communication skills

We offer

Research Funding Søndre is still a relatively new department and we still encounter lots of small and large challenges we do not yet have answers to. So we cannot promise a calm everyday life from day one. However, we can offer you to become part of a fantastic, interdisciplinary work community where you can help shape the workflows and the culture in which we create good service and high value for others.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for Academics in the State with placement as an executive officer (fuldmægtig) or senior consultant (specialkonsulent). The position is 30 hours per week.

The position is expected to be filled on 1 January.

If you would like more information about the position, you are welcome to contact the head of the Office for Research Funding Søndre:

Dorte Fredskilde Braad

E-mail: [email protected]

Tel: +45 60 39 04 74

Interviews will be held in weeks 46 & 47.

We want to reflect the surrounding society and encourage everyone regardless of personal background to apply for the position.

The University of Copenhagen (KU) is in the process of implementing a new shared administrative organization and new workflows, which will bring changes in the coming years. For further information you may contact the union representative at [email protected]
