Organist (30 hours per week) sought for Brøndby Strand Church

A 30-hour-per-week position as organist is available for filling as of January 1, 2027.

As organist at Brøndby Strand Church you will have a varied daily life with a wide spectrum of musical and church-related tasks.

Your primary tasks will include

· Musical participation in services (every 3rd weekend)

· Participation in a substitution scheme together with the church's other organist

· Musical accompaniment at church ceremonies

· Devotions at a nursing home (once a month)

· Baby hymn singing (32 times annually)

· Ulvetimen (Eight times a year)

· Church, chicken and craft (4 times a year)

· Congregational singing

· Leadership of Strandkoret (currently a 3-part women's choir)

· Other tasks by further agreement

We expect that you

· can deliver good psalm playing for Sunday high mass and the church ceremonies.

· are eager to play both classical and rhythmic hymns.

· can work with choirs on several levels, both adults and children, as we would like to develop the church's choir activities.

· can accompany congregational singing for young and old on the piano/fortepiano.

· have ideas and will help to (further) develop the church's musical profile.

· can and will collaborate, both with the organist colleague, the priests, other staff and the parish council on the use of music to proclaim the gospels and create community.

· can see the necessity of being able to address different groups, both in terms of age and interests.

· is an approachable and welcoming person who likes Brøndby Strand and its residents.

Brøndby Strand Parish has just over 14,000 inhabitants, of whom about 4,000 are members of the Danish National Church.

There are 2.5 priests employed at the church, 1 sexton/PR officer, 1 church-culture employee, 2 church caretakers, in addition to 1 organist/bell ringer and 4 professional singers. The parish is characterized as a western suburb parish with many population groups.

The organ in Brøndby Strand Church is a Poul-Gerhard Andersen organ 1984/190 with 35 stops distributed across the manuals, swell and pedals.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is through Brøndby Strand Parish Council, located at Brøndby Strand Centrum 90, 2660 Brøndby Strand.

Employment of a church musician will be covered by the General Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Organization of Civil Servants from 2010 (CO10 general agreement) and the collective agreement for church officials with core tasks such as sexton, parish assistant or church musician and the associated protocol for church musicians.

Employment of a trained organist will be covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of Church Affairs, CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 and the Danish Organist and Cantor Society (DOKS) for organists.

Current civil-servant organists have the right to preserve their civil-servant status upon direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for a church musician is set within the interval of 333,747.51 – 475,590.07 DKK (current prices). There is a stående rådighed (availability) for the position. The availability allowance is 27,641.26 DKK annually (current prices). OK allowance of 1,082.22 DKK. An appointment within the salary interval is agreed between the parish council and the Danish Church Musician Association before employment.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music candidate degree (DOKS) is agreed under the new salary/AC scale. That is a gross salary between 363,168.70 – 442,528.78 DKK annually (current prices). There is a standing availability for the position. The availability allowance is annually between 46,726.59 – 72,572.63 DKK (current prices). Placement and availability allowance are awarded according to seniority.

The annual salary for applicants with a degree in organ and choir direction (formerly PO-organist) is agreed according to the agreed basic salary step system. Basic step 1 is DKK 350,435.39 and basic step 2 is DKK 368,188.95 annually. Placement occurs according to seniority. In addition, qualifications and function allowances may be granted after local negotiation. The availability allowance is annually 29,665.65 DKK (current prices) for service at one church.

Salary and availability allowances are quota-based in accordance with the position's appointment fraction.

There is a probationary period according to applicable rules, and references and a child protection background check may be requested on employment.
