Re-advertisement - Organist A position as organist at Rise Church is available as of January 1, 2027.

The position is 22 hours per week.

The organist shall undertake the following tasks

  • Play for worship services and church ceremonies and hymn arrangements in the church and the parish house
  • Be choir leader for our adult choir
  • Provide baby-singing instruction
  • Collaborate with the parish council/concert committee on musical activities. Be responsible for contact with external musicians/soloists in connection with concerts and special services, including PR work. All of this in collaboration with the concert committee.

There is a possibility that the position can be expanded or reduced according to wishes, as the parish council wishes to be flexible regarding the scope of the tasks.

Expansion can occur by establishing a children’s or youth choir; reduction can occur by opting out of being the adult choir conductor and teaching baby-singing.

Rise Church is a church blessed with good churchgoing, just as our children’s services and other activities also attract many people.

Our activities span a wide range. As mentioned, the high mass is the week's “high point”.

In addition we have children’s services , which generally fall on the last Tuesday of the month. The church rites, funerals/burials and marriages , generally take up a lot of space in the parish and we are happy to provide the framework for life’s major events. We are a church that liturgically can be described as traditional. We see a strength in the changing texts and hymns of the church year. At Rise Church we gladly use the Hymnbook, Songs and Hymns as well as occasionally the High School Songbook and Community Singing.

We have a well-functioning Adult Choir, which meets weekly, and about four times a year we have College Song Evenings , which take place in collaboration between the organist and the priest. In addition we have a number of other events, which can be seen on our website: risekirke.dk.

We are seeking an organist who is

  • Engaged, loyal, flexible and willing to cooperate
  • Familiar with worship services and church ceremonies
  • Familiar with the liturgy and the importance of music and preferably selects hymns in collaboration with the priests
  • Has knowledge of the traditions of the church year
  • Approachable, friendly, ready to contribute to a relaxed working environment and be part of a cohesive unit

About the parish The organ in Rise Church is a Marcussen og Søn organ with 21 stops. In addition there is a digital piano in the church and also one in Sognegården. The organist has an office in a shared office in Sognegården, which is also furnished with a practice organ.

Employment is through Rise Parish Council located at Rise Bygade 19-23, 6230 Rødekro.

Further information about the position can also be obtained by contacting parish priest Morten B. Vibert at tel. 51 27 21 47, parish priest Robert B. Hansen at tel. 40 17 22 39 or the parish council chair Bernhard Nørby at phone number 40 36 92 50/email [email protected].
