About the job

Do you want to help citizens with autism in a way that strengthens their self-determination and quality of life? Then we surely have the dream job for you. And don’t worry – we’ll make sure you are well prepared for your new, exciting tasks. Does that sound like something for you?

Nymarksvej is part of Autism Center Southern Denmark and lies in scenic surroundings beside a sports field and a forest area. In nature we find calm and well-being. And when we know that an autism diagnosis often leads to elevated stress levels, colors and materials are carefully selected with inspiration precisely from nature. Other special initiatives include niches and transition zones that give time to adapt, and the possibility to be on the edge of the community on the days when participation in the community becomes too overwhelming.

Core task

"With a basis in the individual citizen’s resources, dreams and hopes we strengthen self-determination and promote self-reliance, to support the citizen’s own experience of quality of life and a meaningful life"

Nymarksvej is a highly specialized 24/7 facility with 21 apartments, where 14 of the apartments are long-term residences and 7 are temporary residences

The pedagogical task requires you to have a professional approach and to be present in contact with the individual citizen, in order to create a good relationship. You will become part of a small team with special responsibility for a smaller group of citizens. This requires good collaboration skills.

The professional effort around the citizen is built on autism-specialist methods and approaches that are proven effective, such as KRAP, TEACCH, LA2 and ADL. In addition, we work with development descriptions and sensory assessments.

Your task is

  • Create a safe and predictable day-to-day life, where the citizen’s own influence is accommodated
  • Engage in a close, interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and management, around the core task
  • Be co-responsible for the social-pedagogical development together with colleagues and management
  • Collaborate with relatives and caseworkers
  • Translate action plans into sub-goals
  • Work systematically with good documentation

We aim for close collaboration with the citizens’ relatives and other relevant partners, in order to create a consistent thread in the work around the individual citizen and the efforts surrounding them.

We work purposefully on developing the citizens’ potential. This is with a view to creating the best framework for the citizens to live a good life on their own terms. We work to de-escalate conflicts – the work requires you to have an overview and to be able to handle situations with high emotional demands, where the citizens may exhibit challenging behavior.

Your profile

  • Can and dare to reflect on one’s own and others’ practice.
  • Can receive and give constructive feedback aimed at common goals and development around the core task.
  • Can set up and document health- and professional SMART sub-goals for the citizen and work both structurally and intuitively when the task requires this
  • Is clear and precise in your communication, both written and verbal
  • Works in an appreciative and conflict-de-escalating manner.
  • Can and will work for a good working environment, with openness and recognition.
  • Is physically and mentally robust
  • Perceives personal care and hygiene as a natural part of the job.
  • Holds a valid driver’s license.
  • Adaptive, good at organizing, planning and improvising when things do not go as planned.
  • Is responsible, takes on tasks and is a team player
  • Has a desire to create development for the citizens with an inclusive focus on self- and co-determination

We can offer you

  • A strong interdisciplinary environment with a high degree of specialization
  • Competence development program during employment, including a particularly thorough introduction in the first 14 days
  • Work in a Center where there is focus on professional competence development and the possibility for supervision
  • Professional thematic days, meetings, sparring and supervision
  • A good working environment with engaged colleagues, where everyone is equal
  • Work day/evening and every other weekend in the time frame 6:30-23:00
