About the job

Do you dream of a meaningful job within one of the world's most important political agendas?

And do you thrive in political and public affairs work, where you build strong personal relationships while diving into the professional substance – and do lots of hands-on work – within politics that promote plant-based foods in Denmark?

Then you have the opportunity now. The plant-based transition is one of the most important agendas of the 21st century, and with an ambitious government platform – which includes preparing a food strategy and implementing zero VAT on fruit and vegetables, alongside the tripartite alliance finding funding to permanent the Plant Fund from 2030 – there is plenty to tackle.

As the central plant-based actor in Denmark, the Danish Vegetarian Association needs you to ensure that the ambition and implementation toward more plant-based foods is maintained.

Political work that promotes green meals on the plate and in agriculture

You will work closely with DVF’s Secretary General, Program Director, and other staff within the political area.

Your main tasks will be

− Prepare high-quality written briefings that can be used by politicians from all parties in the Folketing

− Prepare, participate in, and follow up on meetings with politicians, civil servants, political advisers, and authorities

− Assist DVF’s Secretary General and Program Director with tasks within political advocacy, including arranging meetings, planning political events, the People’s Meeting, etc.

− Lead a project focused on securing more funds for research and development in plant-based foods in Denmark

− Proactive public affairs work that promotes knowledge about plant-based foods among, and strengthens DVF’s relations with, other interest organizations and relevant societal actors, e.g. the trade union movement, the financial sector, the major green foundations, etc.

− Prepare consultation responses and input to parliamentary questions (paragraph 20 questions)

− Lead on election surveys

− Contribute to developing new political focus areas

− Other ad hoc tasks as needed

Do you have experience with political work?

We expect that you

− Feel comfortable building and developing social relationships within politics or among professionals in interest organizations

− Have a basic understanding of how to balance idealistic messages that inspire others with pragmatism and a focus on concrete results

− Are educated in political science or a similar field; or have professional experience with handling political work, preferably from one of the established parties in Copenhagen, a ministry, or an organization that works with political interests

− Have a high degree of independence

− Have basic knowledge about vegetarian/vegan lifestyles and food preferences in society in general, as well as an awareness of and interest in sustainability, health, and animal ethics

− See yourself in DVF’s values, but also in the values of our closest partners, especially Organic Denmark and Plant Industry

− Can communicate accurately, sharply, and thoughtfully to recipients with different ideological backgrounds and varying levels of meat consumption

− Enjoy concrete hands-on work, including background research and the preparation of documents and election surveys

− Thrive with the salary we can offer because you know the green transition requires someone to lead the way.

You will have a daily life with flexible arrangements

Your daily work will take place at our secretariat located at Vester Voldgade 2. 2nd floor left. We currently have 38 colleagues, 5 of whom work from Jutland and Funen. We focus on organizing work according to individual needs, and therefore we practice, for example, weekly remote workdays and flexible working hours. We have a friendly social environment and place a high value on good collegiality.

Start date, hours, and salary

We are looking for a colleague who can start as soon as possible. We can offer a 37-hour-per-week position with a monthly salary from January 1, 2027 of 37,415 DKK – or a 30-hour-per-week position with a corresponding reduction in salary. The salary is non-negotiable, as we have a very flat pay structure.

In addition, we offer an employer-paid pension of 11% and 6 weeks of vacation.

The lunch break is unpaid, however we have a very good and partly employer-paid lunch scheme with 100% plant-based food, and we have free access to organic coffee, tea, fruit, and nut arrangements.
