About the job

Do you want to lead large construction projects that create value for citizens and employees – and help shape the municipal buildings of the future?

Sorø Municipality seeks a skilled and engaged project manager for Infrastructure & Real Estate, where you will play a central role in the planning and execution of the municipality's most important construction and renovation projects.

We have a broad portfolio of municipal properties and continuously work with both new construction, conversions and major renovations. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague who wants to take responsibility for the projects from the initial ideas and needs clarification to the finished building being ready for use.

We are looking for someone with solid experience in project management of larger construction projects and a good understanding of the various phases of construction. You could be educated as a building constructor, engineer or architect and have experience from a consulting firm, contractor industry or a client organization.

With us you will have a high degree of autonomy, professional responsibility and the opportunity to shape the development of the municipality's buildings.

Your tasks and areas of responsibility

As a project manager you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing construction projects across the municipality's properties. You will take on the client role and become the natural link between the municipality's users, consultants, contractors, authorities and other partners.

You will have a varied project portfolio, ranging from larger new builds and substantial renovations to conversions and development of existing properties.

Your primary tasks will include

  • Project management and owner’s advisor: Planning and execution of construction and renovation projects from idea phase to handover, including management of the project’s progress, quality, economy and schedule.
  • Design and construction processes: Coordination of design, regulatory processing and execution as well as follow-up with consultants, contractors and other actors through the different phases of construction.
  • Economy and risk management: Preparation of budgets, financial estimates and decision bases as well as ongoing financial monitoring and handling of risks in the projects.
  • Tendering and contract management: Planning and execution of consultant and contract tenders, obtaining offers and follow-up on contracts and agreements.
  • Needs clarification and user involvement: Dialogue with the municipality's institutions, departments and other stakeholders about needs, functionality and future use of the buildings.
  • Political and administrative support: Contribution to case documents, political decision proposals and budget processes in connection with the municipality's construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Sustainability and long-term solutions: Incorporating considerations of energy, climate, total economy, material choices and the buildings’ future operation and maintenance.

You will be responsible for your own projects, but will also be part of a professional community where we support each other and help across when tasks require it.

We emphasize that our construction projects are not only completed within the agreed frameworks but also result in functional, durable and operations-friendly buildings that create value for many years to come.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant construction-related education such as building constructor, engineer or architect. You have solid experience with project management of larger new builds or renovation projects , and you have worked with the many phases of construction—from planning and design to execution and handover.

You have a good construction-technical understanding and can combine your professional knowledge with the ability to create an overview, make decisions and ensure progress in complex projects.

We particularly emphasize that you

  • Have experience with project management and can keep track of economy, timelines, quality and agreements.
  • Work in a structured, independent and solution-oriented way – even when projects become complex.
  • Know construction processes, applicable building regulations, tender rules and the AB system.
  • Can collaborate and communicate with many different stakeholders and manage to build good relationships.
  • Have a view for both technical details and the overall goals of a construction project.
  • Understand total economy, sustainability and the importance of thinking about operation and maintenance early in projects.
  • Are familiar with digital tools for project management, economy and construction, e.g. Dalux, Excel and relevant design programs.

It would be an advantage if you have previously worked in a client organization or have experience with construction projects in a politically governed organization, but it is not a prerequisite.

You may also have a background as a designing consultant or project manager with a contractor, where you have built a solid understanding of the management and execution of larger construction projects.

The most important is that you have the right professional ballast, take ownership of your projects and thrive in delivering results in collaboration with others.

What can we offer?

With us you get an exciting and versatile position, where you become part of a smaller organization with broad professional breadth and short decision paths.

We offer among other things

  • An autonomous project manager position with responsibility for exciting and varied building and renovation projects.
  • Work on projects that have direct impact on the municipality's citizens, employees and institutions.
  • Great influence on the planning of your tasks and the execution of the projects.
  • A strong interdisciplinary environment with dedicated and experienced colleagues who share knowledge and help each other.
  • Good opportunities for professional development and sparring within project management, construction and property development.
  • Flexible working conditions with the possibility of home working by agreement.
  • An informal workplace where we prioritize well-being, collaboration and a good atmosphere – and where there is room for high spirits and social events.

About the department

Our property portfolio includes among other things schools, day care centers, nursing homes, sports facilities and administrative buildings. It provides a varied and exciting daily life with many different project types and partners.

We are an organization where professionalism and practical understanding go hand in hand. We emphasize finding solutions that are technically sound, economically responsible and function in daily operation.
