The School on Hjortholm is looking for an educator for our lower primary

At Hjortholm we meet students with the mindset that children are not the problem, but rather show the problem.

We are seeking an educator who looks beyond the behavior and wants to be an important adult in the school everyday life for students with socio-emotional challenges.

You will become part of a strong interdisciplinary community around a class and at the same time take a central role in the collaboration between school, residential groups and home. Each morning you help the students get from the residential group to school and contribute to the safety and predictability that are crucial for their learning and well-being. Subsequently you will join the teaching staff in the class and after-school program.

At Hjortholm we tackle the task together. You will always have colleagues nearby who share responsibility, reflections and successes with you.

• be trained as an educator, preferably with experience from the special education field or a desire to develop your competences in the area.
• believe that all behavior is communication, and that good interpersonal contact is the path to development.
• want to create teaching and learning environments where students experience mastery and opportunities to participate.
• can create clear, safe and predictable frameworks.
• maintain calm and curiosity when children show distress or challenging behavior.
• see collaboration as a strength and actively contribute to the community around the students.
• can document and convey your observations with professional reflections.

The organization

The School at Hjortholm is a school and day treatment facility for children of school age. We are part of the independent children and youth home Hjortholm, located just south of Fuglebjerg in scenic surroundings. Here there is room to breathe and rich opportunities to bring teaching out into nature and reality. We believe that teaching and the pupil's academic progression are an important part of a treatment-oriented everyday life. We currently have 22 students ranging from kindergarten to 10th grade.

The position is a full-time role with start date January 1, 2026. There are employment interviews on November 24. In connection with the recruitment we will obtain a child protection and criminal record certificate as well as one or two references.
