About the job

If you would like to work with acute patient pathways, we have an exciting job for you.

We offer an intensive and individualized introductory program and many opportunities for competence development in the department.

It is desired that you have several years of experience as a social and health care assistant at a hospital and ideally experience with acute nursing.

Your daily life

You will be part of the department's teams, where you receive all triaged patients admitted within up to 48 hours in the specialties of cardiology, neurology, emergency medicine, gynecology, surgery and orthopedic surgery.

You will always have the opportunity for professional sparring with colleagues, as there are always several colleagues on duty, and the doctors are available around the clock. You participate daily in “15 professional minutes” and board meetings, where the focus is on professional issues. In addition, you can participate in teaching, ethical reflection and interdisciplinary simulation training.

What characterizes the emergency reception

At FAM there is a focus on social relations, and there is “room to breathe” with space to accept differences. It is a very social department that values collegial interaction both at work and in your free time. We also have a strong focus on the working environment.

We have a duty planner who works to ensure that all employees feel that work life and private life go hand in hand. We are flexible in work-time planning and try to accommodate specific wishes, for example fixed days off or a fixed shift pattern.

The managers at FAM have offices physically located in the department, which means that there is always management present, and all managers participate in the clinical work. This creates a sense of community characterized by an informal tone between managers and staff and makes it easier to maintain an overview when some days are challenging due to busyness.

The Common Acute Reception consists of five teams on three campuses

  • Floor 1 on the Aabenraa campus with trauma, trauma reception, reception rooms and observation area as well as psychiatric reception. The on-call doctor with bridge-builder is also located here, and the social care nurses as well.
  • Floor 2 on the Aabenraa campus with 42 single rooms and a short-term zone with chairs.

In addition, the hospital's common triage is located here.

  • Injury clinics in Sønderborg and Tønder, staffed with treating nurses.

Patients are assigned to the respective team, where a nurse or social and health care assistant has their own patients. You are therefore expected to be able to work quite independently, but with the possibility for close sparring in the team. You start in one team with the possibility of later working in two of the department's teams.

We are about 100 nursing staff, and we work in mixed shifts including every 2nd or 3rd weekend year-round. There is also an option to work 2-2-4 weekends. We are flexible in our work-time planning and will try to accommodate your specific wishes.

The department is a training site for both nursing students, social- and health care assistant students, and ambulance rescue students.

We wish for

  • That you have several years of clinical hospital experience and preferably experience with acute patient pathways.
  • That you thrive in a busy, unpredictable day-to-day life.
  • That you are engaged and want professional development.
  • That you enjoy teaching others.
  • That you have a good mood and a positive approach to new challenges.

We offer

  • Individual introduction and onboarding with planned status meetings and ongoing teaching opportunities in the department.
  • An exciting and busy workplace.
  • Engaged and skilled colleagues, where there is always an opportunity for sparring.
  • Interdisciplinary ethical reflection and teaching opportunities close to practice.
  • A very social department that values collegial interaction both at work and in your free time.
  • Opportunity for shifts as a bridge-builder. That means being an assistant staff member to the on-call doctor.
  • There is an opportunity to obtain the acute education module for social- and health care assistants after a few years in the department.
